I apologize if this has been asked before (and it probably has), but is there a template of the different sliders (Balance, volume, eq sliders) that also shows the position of the slider button also?

Did that just make any sense?

Yeah, thanks Atmo. As Dimichan said, does anyone have balance?

I made a template, but it's at home. If you wait a couple of hours I can post it.

Edit... Or you can check the balance.bmp in GoldenRing (jellby.deviantart.com), there's something there that can be used as a template.

Here it is, I hope you like it :) But I'm not sure about the bars' size, they might be one pixel narrower... Test it.

hmmm strange how someone relative new can come with a skinning-related-question that lot's of more experienced skinners did not (dare to) ask.

To be honest, it never occurred to me, although it should have, since it's a very handy idea!

I didn't ask because I thought it would be quicker to make it myself, it's very easy.

I never asked because I never needed to know the position of the slider button. I crop them off usually.

I often use anamation in the Volume/Balance and cut the buttons off.

The thing that bugs me is counting the number of frames and then working how far to move the anamation for each step, it always seems that I finish too early or too late.

just maybe.. the "expereinced" skinners already know the answer to most skinning-related-questions, or might look like an idiot for asking.. :)?

Even if you crop the buttons out, it is always good to know where they are supposed to be, just to know where the mouse should be clicked on... I have the positions as a layer and hide it before saving as bmp.

yep, using the template on a seperate layer is the easiest way to get the skin layout, without having to use different bitmaps.

I've recently started to make a new skin, and I tried using that Balance template, and discovered that it was 2 pixels too wide. So I posted that info here so people who read this thread (including people using "search the forums" in the future) will know.

Sorry nini, didnt open this thread.. its the linux penguin.. i think thats what u mean.. hmm.. is it hard to install and learn linux? i was running XP, then formated and am now on ME.. which i hate. I wana install linux, but dont really wana do anything to my computer or learn a new OS. I know u run linux nini, how do u like it? hard to use?

If youre used to windows and its easy to use interfaces then Linux might seem a bit complicated. I havent used it much, Red Hat and mandrake give you GUI's that look similar to windows, but there seems to be a lot that has to be done in the console. Especially when trying to get new hardware working.

If you arent happy with WinME, I'd give it a shot, since youre on cable nova, you should be able to download a linux install from the net.

From memory, linux has its own non destructive partition manager, meaning you'll be able to make a new partition out of an existing one. Probably best to keep an install of ME on your pc while your learning linux though.

Atmo
17th May 2002, 09:08
Its another version of linux...and it looks ok, I might download it and give it a try.

PeaceMaker
17th May 2002, 09:30
the thing is u can customize the OS to your own systems hardware config.[where as windows uses all these drivers in which u dont need and puts them on ur hdd.].

Jellby

Every distribution includes its own set of drivers, utilities, source code... The essential linux is 1 CD, you should compare the 3-4CD linux with a hypothetical windows with all the source code, drivers, MSOffice, Photoshop, browsers, 2CDs with shareware programs...
