Sorry if this has already been posted but my check of the forums has turned up nothing.
I've been using MD 1.01 for ages with no problems, last night I decided to swap to 1.02. The configuration menu for 1.02 now takes ages (about 15ish seconds) to load up and starting MD itself takes around the same time.
I've since removed MD and all the MD config files, got 1.02b3 from Ryan's site and the same thing happens.
Anyone know what's up? I'm running w2kSP2.
Cheers,

What, what, what...
what is version 1.02b3?
If you try 1.01 will it work for you again?

Definitely try going back to 1.01 - if it still has the problem, then you know it's not Milkdrop's fault.
If the problem is still there, try removing all but one preset (move the others somewhere else), and see if that helps. Come back if you've tried that and the problem doesn't go away.
It's not your OS or system - I was running MD for ages on win2k.

oki,
1.01 works fine when that's in the folder. I've put 1.02b3 back on and moved all the presets except one and it still takes ages for the config to load up.

Oh OK then I think that is a pre 1.02 version. ALthough created at the same time. I thoought it was a new beta that I missed.:)
Stick to normal 1.02 mind you.
No-one else has this problem 1.02 and it has been out for nearly 3 months now. v. strange.
POst your system specs (CPU, memeory, gFX card, direct x version, etc) and atached a debug and the MD config file.
MAybe there will be a clue there.

Nooooooooothe soundcard - SB Audigy w/ drive bay
This is could your problem.
This has been reported many times on the WA boards in general that this new SB card i a total pain with the most dodgy drivers in the world.
Search all forums.winammp.com for audigy
Or see
things like

People on the r3mix message boards are always banging on about the SB A mucking around but it's never failed me once. I'm kinda confused as to why this'd stop the config from loading normal speed.
edit: I just tried loading the MD config and it just froze winamp, the song that was on finished and then nothing... i couldn't get it back from the systray..
it happened with winamp 2.79, which is why I upgraded to 2.80.
What stuff is there in the WAupdate other than PPs plugins? I've got the direct sound and vorbis stuff from it that I wanted, or are there other things (WA ddl's etc..) that I need from it?

I dunno if it is the SB card I just know it has problems. I don't really know how it effects the config box not loading but it could/would effect teh vis from being dispalyed. WA goes INput plug-in then output plug_in (therefore via your soundcard) THEN dispalys the vis. Not doing vis from input.
Also I had a load of problems when upgrading to 2.80.
WA ramdomly stopped working MD froze, etc.
I installed WA fully and re-installed WA2.80 and it was all ok.
They used an old and really buggy wave_out plug for 2.80 by mistake.
So re-install this wa_update again.

You will need to do a add/remove programs full uni-install first as settings may be left in there.
(/edit also delete the dll as stated here: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=65297 )

?
Milkdrop doesn't put anything in the registery. All the settting are contained in milkdrop_config.ini. At least I think so anyway!

The full uninstall and reinstall fixed the amount of time that MD takes to start the vis, but the config is still taking ages.

 don't know what else to suggest. At least it is mostly working now anyway.
if you have an old soundcard lying around switch it out with the sb audigy and try that.

turn off the crossfader too. Older versions of MD had problems with the crossfader - could be that you've uncovered a bug
