Then do like I did. Just stop. Quit "cold turkey." Don't replace one addiction with another, don't try negative or positive reinforcement. Just quit.

Tar isn't the only problem. Carbon monoxide, nicotine, cyanides, and various other shit in cigarettes also cause alot of baaaad things.

The media said if you've smoked one cigarette you are hooked.
Do you guys believe this? In this case it might be true, heh.

You will need....
One fairly large empty glass jar with an air tight lid on it.
Lots and lots of ciggies
A fair ammount of time.
Understanding partner.....

Open glass jar.
Light up one ciggie, smoke it, drop the stub in the jar, light another ciggie, smoke it, drop stub in jar.

Repeat this procedure until your body litterally can take no more and you head into vomit mode, belive me, you may think your a hard smoker, but your body will eventually give up, keep puffing those cigs one after another, no break for food, no break for sleep, no break for taking a piss, keep going, dropping each stub into the jar.

Once vomit mode has been reached, and you feel like you've just spewed till you can spew no more, seal that jar tight.

Soooo, you've puffed away at quite possiably dozens of ciggies, your body hates you for it, and it's told you so in the most decorative way it knows how.....

Ok, what next.

Simple, next time you get the urge for a cig, grab the jar, crack the lid, inhale deeply, if your body and mind don't physically and psychologically react to the smell by reminding you of your explosive, mind bending vomit session, then there really is no hope for you :D

This really works, I know at least 5 people who have tried this method and have never sucked on a cancer stick since, the nightmarish visions of having your head down the pan, chucking up the smokey contents of your stomach will put you off for life.

Guaranteed to work or your money back. :D

I should also add if you manage to chuck up any major organs while in vomiting mode, don't blame me :D

VERY good idea, but i think if you need quit try some other way first, then if you need a ciggi do that idea. otherwise you are just smoking one hell of alot and putting your body through a VERY troumerous episode that may not be needed

The patch, the gum, quitting cold turkey, none of that worked for me. It took bypass surgery to convince me it was time to quit. And I'm still a high risk for lung cancer. Quit while you're young.

I quit cold turkey but the vomit mode extreme sounds like it should shock the hell out of your system

I'd try cutting back on the amount of cigarettes you smoke on a day to day basis and then when your down to about 5 cigarettes a day just stop all together, this way your withdrawl syptoms aren't as tough to deal with. When you've gotten through these tough periods of quitting you probably won't want to go back to the smelly dirty cancer sticks, here's hoping :)

I like the positive reinforcement idea just until you've gotten the strength to kick the habit. You might want to try sucking on a lolli pop are eating sunflower seeds when you get those cravings, just to ease the tension a bit :D

Almost everyone that I know that has quit successfully, has done so cold turkey, but not because they wanted to. It was because they had some health problem associated with them smoking in the first place, and they have to quit so they can have the surgery they need to have. After the surgery they are usually in so much pain they can't eat, let alone smoke a cigarette, and by the time the whole process is done, and they are at a point in which they could smoke a cigarette six months have gone by, and they don't want to go through all of that pain again, so they usually don't start up again.

Well smoking is such a pointless thing to start...

Your weak minded to start and think you will be kewl doing it and your friends wont like you if you don't

If anyone told me that i'd have to smkoe or they wouldn't be friends with me anymore id simply tell them...

Go fuck yourself!

Those kinda friends aren't worth having.

Bop, why did you start?

Cigarettes themselves do not contain tar (or formaldehyde, or arsenic, or benzene, or all those other nasty poisons the Thought Police want you to believe are in cigarettes). Burning tobacco produces these things. The tobacco companies are not willingly filling up their product with toxins... they are just a natural byproduct of combustion. But, since it ends up in your lungs anyway, it doesn't really matter where it comes from.

Quitting smoking cold turkey is hard...I know, i tried it and it didnt work....Its all mental, we're told quitting is hard so we make it hard for ourselves.

I went through a month of withdrawals when i went off valium, but i didnt think it was hard to do as there werent advertising campaigns saying its hard to quit taking valium...

That list of chemicals isn't really that impressive.
If you chemically analysed a piece of wood you'd get hundreds or thousands of chemicals.

But anyway, back to helping Bophttp://www.davidmear.com/smilies/smile.gif.

Almost everyone in my family smokes / used to smoke.
Most of them gave up smoking just by forcing themselves not to.
In my oppinion, there's no "magic" way to quit that's gonna be easy. Whatever you do is gonna need willpower.

Ooh, I do remember one thing though. I knew someone who read biology of some kind at University, and they just knew so much about what ciggarettes did to you, that they could no longer even bear the thought of lighting one up.

I wish I could help more http://www.davidmear.com/smilies/smile.gif.

you could remember this fact: Nicotine is used as a pesticide. I used to work in a greenhouse, and that is what they used for a pesticide. they would fill the greenhouse with nicotine in it's gaseous state, and you couldn't enter the green house for at least 48 hrs. If you did enter the greenhouse, you would die in under 30 sec.

I smoke, and I enjoy it. I know it's not good for me, but I really like it. If I was gonna quit I'd definately do a cold turkey. Will power alone should be enough. Just make sure you really do want to quit, and don't say to people you are quitting. Say you to people have already quit.
Mr Jones's jar idea sounds like it would work too though :D
