Is Shoutcast ever going to fix the station search? I'm really getting annoyed with this new way.

It is not broke, it is just different. The old way was creating too much of a load by doing substring queries so this new way was introduced.

I can understand that. It does seem to be a bit easier. However, if you're like me and broadcast a few hours middays and again in the evenings, the IP address changes with each broadcast and I have to update the link. The old way, I used to send them to a page with just my listing and they can tune in there. Now, I have to update the link everytime I begin a broadcast. To top it all off, I get booted offline 3-4 times an hour, sometimes more. Each time I reconnect, my IP changes due to me having to restart the broadcast.

You could try using a link to the SHOUTcast generated playlist specifying your rn (see the tune-in link for your rn (actually you just need to copy the tune in link for your station)). Your rn shouldn't change unless you do not broadcast for three days, however I'm not sure what criteria they use to match up rns after a disconnect (i.e. same station title, same IP, etc.). If that doesn't work then have you looked into those dynamic IP services that assign a static name to your dynamic IP? Also for the search it works best if you just enter one complete word, the more unique the better.
