This day will be long remembered.

Info on me:-I am 25 yr old hardware consultant. I know a little C++,HTML,XML. I have great experience of designing in Adobe Photoshop, Paintshop pro, Flash.

After surfing through net(i have atleast 2 yrs of experience on web-surfing) for the past whole week on topic of skinning winamp3, i have come to conclusion, unless u r a genius(read "master of XML, C++, Adobe Photoshop all-in-one"); u atleast have to script 2 skins to get any(sensible) knowledge of skinning.

I dont have that much time or patience. I believe in learn-while-you-doit.

I have a great passion for skinning winamp3. But i dont want to get caught up in the nitty-gritties of scripting; which in turn might pour cold water on my imaginative part of brain (i know there r many of them who feel same). So i would like to form a group. who will take there particular posts in skinning. I ofcourse will head the design department.

So those who r interested and r well experienced should reply to this topic with the relevant details. I think on completion of this project it will be the ultimate tutorial to anyone who wants A-Z of skinning for Winamp3. (OK now i cant feel my fingers and wrist)

Apt. Suggestion/Critisim is welcomed.

KYRO.

I like what I hear, I am 19 taking courses on C++, so I know a little while my knowledge in the subject is growing. I also have some skill in Adobe Photoshop just from messing around with it, but I am no wiz kid in it, and I have no imagination, but I love to code. I would like to offer my services to this project/team you are putting together. The skin I am doing right now is a port from antoher skin, so little photoshop knowledgs is needed :). But I am learning the code and scripts as i go along. So if you are intrested in my asst. or have further inquires let me know.

What a great idea.

Because WA3 is so much different than WA2, there is so much more required than before. This may give the xml dummies (like me) the chance to get involved more fully in the design and creation of skins without the frustration of trying to code.

I support this initiative!

Definitely a good idea. I, unfortunately, don't know a thing about XML, scripting, programming, etc. I am pure artist, and not that fantastic at that either. Perhaps I could be a guinea pig for testing out the tutorial in its different stages. Other than that I don't know that I can help.

Wonderful idea though. give me hope. :D

Ok first thing first- i am really happy and excited with all the positive responces so-far; this can only motivate me to go ahead with my plans as fast as possible.

As soon as i posted i was working my ass off for the past couple of days in this scorching Mumbai heat. so even if i got messages of reply posted on this topic i was really tired to answer any of them, especially to BmmrMpower(contact me on any of my IDs). For this reason i m posting my yahoo ID and ICQ number at the end of this post, anyone who wants to talk to me can get me through them( i prefer ICQ).

From now on i will start contacting senior members on Winamp forum for any kind of help they can provide. If you know any person who is "really good at it" please link him to this page. remember after a while someone will be head of some part or other but if anyone feel he/she can contribute, correct, help pass the word, please do it freely.

OK some exciting news. In 2-3 days, i will be posting a teaser(read "screenshot") of couple of graphics. so some work can be started and the ball will start rolling. from now on i will give any kind of spare time on this forum/post as regular as possible ;).

My ICQ number- 153500027
yahoo id - anshu_pg@yahoo.com

Todays Hint:- If you like what u read and would like to know when is the next post going to be or u want to keep up with this Forum/Post happenings then "subscribe" to it i.e click on "recieve updates on this thread" . I think u have to be registered user first.

hey guys!!!! :)

i really like this idea!!!especially as i'm more interested in designing than in coding .... what do u think about that:
when a designer gets an idea, he makes all the things needed and posts them in a special pages' forum or sth like that and tells any specials that the skin shall have. then, the coder-crew works out the scripts and the skin gets released as "...designed by the A-Z - Crew ... idea by ...." or sth like that.but i think that we should make a kinda "club" that not anyone that wants can join. i think people should have to send in a work of 'em, to prof their skills and if the other members think it's good, he'll be in.

however..... nice idea anyways! :)
c ya!

Hey, we were thinking of making a "Help Wanted" forum for artists and coders to find each other just yesterday. Sounds like it would work out pretty good...

I hate to say it but I am just a beginer at this...But I suggest you contact Gonzotech and/or The Rhino for your coding team. They are phonominal at it and have helped me (and just about everyone else in the world) with scripting hard to solve problems.

who ever said you really have to do scripting?

you could have a very plain (yet fast) skin with no scripting...

look at christophe's simple skin

the scripting is only if you want special effects

Hey kyro, u contacted me, so here I am.
We still didn't start the coding of B00M so maybe we could all work to make it work as good as it looks like.
Will fisher asked me first to code it for me, so I hope he'll join this project.
hmm, for your info, I'm 21 communication manager and Photoshop is a part of my body.
