All of my skin thus far have been done almost exclusively with filters and path tools, and all of them have turned out rather bright and colorfull. Why is it that the first thing I produce with an airbrush ends up like this?

Scary...

Hmmm... Did your father hit you when you was a child? :p

You could always add a big red nose and orange curly hair ;)

Very impressive, DanG.

I hope you make a skin like that.

I noticed that. I was surprised, because your English is usually pretty much immaculate.

By the way, Jellby, I've noticed that Golden Ring is rated far above Whirling Illusion and Colour of Money at 1001. Strange. I think that each of your skins was quite a bit better than the last. The most recent one is brilliant, whereas Golden Ring was just nice.

Do you have a new project happening?

Thank you :)

About the ratings, I think that Golden Ring is a more 'normal' skin, there's nothing strange with it, it may pass unnoticed quite easily... The other two are more 'experimental', and more exposed to 'I love it'/'I hate it' reactions. If you look at the comments, you'll see Golden Ring has only two 'excellent', Whirling Illusion has one 'average' and two 'excellent' and The Colour of Money has four 'average' and two 'good', I believe these members' ratings weight more than the anonymous ratings in the 'Bayesian estimate'. Anyway, Whirling Illusion wins in downloads/day and it's my best skin in deviantart (even with Golden Ring being DD, I still love it, by the way).

My new project... yes, there is one (apart from the chain skin), it's going to be called 'The Best Winamp Skin Ever'. Arrogant? No, I don't think it's going to be the best, but it's the name I have to choose, because it's going to be full of Richard Scarry's characters (I hope not to have copyright problems). I have some other ideas, but they'll have to wait a bit ;)

Who's Richard Scarry?

btw, I completely agree with the love/hate thing. Which is a shame, because love/hate skins are usually the best, but will almost always have a not-so-good rating because of the haters.

Richard Scarry was a children's book illustrator. I had (and still have) two of his books and they were so cute and funny:... I loved them. You can do a search in amazon and find something about them, but I didn't find any webpage with the characters or anything, just online book-stores :/ Some of his books were called "The best word book ever", "The best first book ever", and so on, hence the name of the skin.

Cool. I'm looking forward to it. I did a search to see what his characters looked like. All I found was this, which you probably won't find useful, but maybe you'll find it interesting. Brio (LEGO for younger children) has made some of Scarry's characters into toys:

Yes, I did find them too, but they are not as cute as the books :) I'm using my worn out Spanish edition of "The best word book ever" to scan the characters. I attach an example.

OK! These guys have a lot more character than the wooden toy ones! :)

Dan: That looks a lot like an alien.

It is weird but I souldn't be suprised. At this point all I can do with an airbrush is shadows. :igor:
