I guess this isn't a new idea as it is a bit like quarkamp but I thought of doing it so I wiped it up real quick. The idea is to blend in someone could easily make ones for XP if they like the idea (I have win2k). Anyway here it is, attached. See the next post for screen shot.

Remember 5 minutes, perhaps someone will put it to use I think I will stick to Apple though

Here is the screen shot, and btw click the move icon to make the think have a background so that you can move it to it's rightfull position in the upper left corner.

that's a good concept, although there's one problem. everybody has different color setups; and when you look at XP, different themes.

I remember mentinoing this before somewhere

what about if there was a WAC that would allow a MAKI to access the windows API and therefore be able to place a windows style button on the skin. I however don't know if this is possible (although I would expect it to be). if it was possible, and one of the major cool programming dudes around here wanted to do such a thing. then you could make a single skin that would adapt to any and all windows environments, therefore eliminating the need for different versions for differen't OS's, eliminating the problem of color controls, and also achieving the purpose that you were looking for, a seamless blend with Windows.

hrm, ThePlague or mc^^^^, or shweiten, or one of you big skinner/scripter/wa3 gods can you please tell me, would a wac/script/skin combo be possible to do what I was saying; going into the Windows API and allowing a skin to place windows buttons on top of the skin?

well, I believe it should be possible, but as you said yourself, it would require a wac to do so...

Or you could hold out for build 480, where you'll be able to do

<button borders="1" style="osbutton_minimize"

type stuff. :)

The following styles will be in there:
button_normal (the default)
osbutton_normal
osbutton_close
osbutton_minimize
osbutton_maximize

I'll add more as they're needed.

looks cool :)

i think, after i'm done with the skin converter, i may just learn MAKI, to help the world out with some kick-ass WACs :)

WACs aren't MAKI
