View Full Version : Strange strange dream

The other night I had what could only be described as a classic "abduction" dream. Here it goes:

It is a warm summer evening, and I am in my house with the door open to get some air (it is not a house I have ever lived in real life). Outside it is a typical American middle-class suburban street. In the sky I see a plane that looks like an AWAC (I think that's what it's called: the plane with the big radar disk on top). Suddenly it makes a complete 360-degree loop (a plane like that could never do that) and begins to hover down towards my house. When I look up it has changed into a completely different looking craft altogether.

Next I am lying in my bed. My entire body is tingling and I can't move at all. I often sleep with a hat on over my eyes because even a little light wakes me up, and so I am trapped in my bed and I can't see. I am struggling to move my arms to remove my hat but I can't. And I'm terrified! I'm trying to shout "Help!" over and over but I can't tell if I'm saying it out loud or not. Everything feels really weird. Finally from moving my head around while struggling the hat comes off my eyes enough to be able to see. On either side of me there is a strange looking creature, half man and half something-I've-never-seen-before.

Then I woke up in my own house. I was FREAKED OUT!!! It was 5:30 in the morning and I'd only gone to bed a few hours earlier. I was dead tired but I was too scared to go back to sleep. I can't explain why I was so scared, but I was. I made a super-strong cup of coffee and fucked around the house 'til I had to go to work.

The really strange thing is I've had dreams like this before. The first one was many, many years ago, before the X-Files was ever a TV show, before I'd ever really heard of this kind of thing. I'm half starting to worry...

I had a very weird thing yesterday. i was half asleep, when i started seeing images in front of my eyes. They started still images, but then then suddenly came to life, and i was taken on a journey, until i finally headed up to a sun, then i woke up agian. The strange thing was it was in colour, but not in monocrome either, it was a sort of mixture of the two.

If you woke with a sore arse that might conclude your suspisions :D

I've been having weird dreams with loads of different people from my past in. There was my cousin i was cuddling (who i don't see often), then I was on a fair ground ride with a couple of friends. I was drinking beer and then one of them went to goto the bar on this big galleon ride. A bar on a ride? wtf? :weird:, It was closed anyway.
Then last night I was at work at the racecource from last year and met up with my friend from there in the kitchen. Everything was so real and realistic, manerisms and speach, everything was like it would be.

You're close, it's an AWACS. :)

I've actually had dreams like that before. They creep the hell out of me. Usually in that type of dream, I think I'm lying in my bed, and I look over into the corner of my room, and there's something there; one time there was a huge guy facing into the corner, and he wouldn't move; another time, a couple days ago actually, all the blankets on my bed were standing up on their own and "looking" at me. During this type of dream, I think I'm awake, but I can't move, can't talk, even though I try to. I think I'm mouthing the words, but they won't come out, and I'm moving in very slow motion.

As far as I know, they're fairly normal to have, it usually just means you're under a lot of stress so you're not sleeping well. When you have a dream like this, you're fairly lucid (which means you realize to some extent that you're dreaming, and can therefore control it), but you really have to think about it. If it happens again, try thinking about the dream that you're in as hard as you can. Shut your eyes very tightly, tell yourself, "Oh, I was just dreaming," and then open them again. You will either wake up or fall asleep completely. Works for me anyway.

This type of dream is SO SCARY THOUGH.

I'm not sure what's scarier: that my dream may have actually happened or that Vie only made two spelling errors in this post (the aliens abducted his punctuation though...). :p

Hey... at least the dream wasn't in your house! I had a freaky alien dream that actually took place in my house, and then I was scared. Has anyone had 'future dreams' before? I'm just wondering... Oh, yeah, and Vie, if he had a clock by his bed (not atomic), then he would've had a quartz crystal in the room, but he wouldn't have been able to see it change color.

LoL, that's kewl. I've had a couple of future dreams, and it really freaked me out. Future dreams can be cool, yet freaky, but, I haven't had a dream in about a year and a half, I have no clue why.

You think you had a stange dream???

Check this out (the dream i had this saturday morning)

I dreamt that I found out that my cousin was a member of the Winamp forums. It was Tom's (the moderator) birthday and my cousin came and put food in a thread. The thread was actually a physical room which resembled my room and was placed under the bed cover. Tom can in and got pissed and decided to ban my cousin from the forums.

I then wondered why he was banned and tried to get it removed.

My dreams can be so fucked up! I dont even know who the hell Tom the moderator is ^_^

:D

I've only had dreams like this every year or two so it may be a while before you get your results.

As for future dreams, I used to keep a dream journal and several times after experiencing deja vu I consulted the journal and found the event described in my journal. Weird huh?

Hmm... I should take down my dream catcher, and start taking a dream journal! It sounds like a good idea! (I'll try to find a quartz crystal! ;))

My friend had a weird dream that takes the cake.

My friend was in a big room. He looked around a corner and saw lots of tiny people about 1 inch high. Then a lizard came and started eating the little people. For some reason, my friend had a gun and he was about to shot the lizard (so it would stop eating the people) but Bono (yes THE Bono) entered the room and started petting the lizard. So my friend shot Bono.

In another dream, he walked by a jungle gym that was giving birth to dead rats.

This happens to him whenever he eats pie after 8:00.

Sandman2012, what you experienced sounds very much like sleeping paralysis. An experience I myself go through quite often, the classic symptoms are all there ie. The paralysis in its self, the having a ‘normal’ dream that morphs into the paralysis, the feeling of a strange entity or a creature, the intense terror on awakening, the body “tinginling”, the shouting and not being entirely shore if you are actually emitting any sound and not being able to move your arms.

It is more than likely that you were not abducted by aliens, which is shame really =] but that you were a victim of this strange and semi-rare sleeping phenomenon.

At its most basic level it is just when your mind wakes up but your body is so physically exhausted that it does not wake up and you are an awake mind (with all the characteristics of such i.e. consciousness) but trapped inside a paralysed body. On a side note it is a good thing that we are paralysed when we are asleep or else we would act out all our dreams….

In the span of human existence it has been called many things,

The god incubus, a half bird, half man creature and comes and sits on sleeping people and rapes women in their sleep.

The old hag who is an old lady that breaks into your house at the dead of night sits on your chest stops you moving and breathing and does all sorts of horrid sexual acts to young men…

and the latest of these myths “alien abduction” which I am sure you all know of.
