any url that is .pls that i click on wont ever open... it used to and then i screwed around with some file associations :/ Normal .pls files on my pc work perfectly fine, but .pls URLs wont :( Listening to shoutcasts and gaming is all i do everyday, but i have to manually put the URLs in Winamp, and thats annoying. Can you help?

Can you elaborate a bit more on "I screwed around with some file associations"?

Anyway, it sounds like the old "corrupt internet cache" issue.
Try emptying the cache.
(Instructions somewhere in this (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=71293) thread)

If the problem persists,
include details of Windows OS and browser/version in your reply.

Did you try emptying the internet cache?
IE Options -> General tab -> Temporary Internet Files -> Delete

If the problem persists, try the "Repair IE" option in:
Add/Remove Programs Control Panel -> Microsoft Internet Explorer -> Add/Remove

Otherwise, reinstall IE6

btw, which of the url entries did you edit . . . and what/why?

Also, goto: Folder Options -> File Types
Tell me what the Content Type (MIME) setting is for:
Winamp Playlist File (PLS M3U) (hi-lite it & click Edit)
Assuming Winamp is set as the default PLS & M3U Playlist player in Winamp Prefs -> Filetypes, it should be one of:
audio/scpls (recommended)
audio/mpegurl
audio/m3u
audio/x-scpls
audio/x-mpegurl

No, you won't lose any settings if you reinstall IE.
They should be exactly as they were.
What settings exactly are you referring to anyway?

No, there's no url:pls filetype

Try changing MIME for Winamp Playlist File to
audio/scpls

This should be available c/o drop down menu, otherwise type it in manually.
Default extension should then automatically show up as .PLS

Try here:
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q180/5/53.ASP

Looks like a QuickTime 5+ related issue:

If you know anything about Registry Editor (regedit), look for and delete anything relating to pls, m3u, audio/mpegurl, audio/scpls under these keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Plugins\Extension
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Plugins\MIME

Nar, there is no URL:PLS Protocol

Here's a list of all URL Protocols:

URL:CallTo Protocol
URL:File Protocol
URL:File Transfer Protocol
URL:Gopher Protocol
URL:Hyper Text Transfer Protocol
URL:Hyper Text Transfer with privacy Protocol
URL:LDAP Protocol
URL:MailTo Protocol
URL:News Protocol
URL:NNTP Protocol
URL:RLogin Protocol
URL:SNews Protocol
URL:Telnet Protocol
URL:TN3270 Protocol

Winamp doesn't open any URL's (not unless you open them via the Winamp gui, eg. Open Location Box).
URL's in the browser are handled by Internet Explorer.
IE/Windows then passes the extension (in this case = .pls) to the associated program, depending on MIME Type configuration (in this case it should be Winamp, but you've got one or all of: audio/scpls | audio/x-scpls | audio/m3u | audio/mpegurl | audio/x-mpegurl associated with some borked IE plugin).

Did you look at those links from my previous post?
I'm almost certain this problem is caused by a borked InternetExplorer plugin association (probably QuickTime or RealPlayer related), and the only way you're gonna fix it is via editing the registry (see previous post).

Apart from all that, have you tried reinstalling IE6 yet?
You must've installed it at some point, because it certainly doesn't come with Win98SE . . .
