OK. I'm trying to sign into my email account on Hotmail. For some reason I can't sign in. Every time I click the sign in button it takes me to a "Page Cannot Be Displayed" page. I have tried everything I can think of. I even tried signing in on msn.com but it won't work. Has anyone had the same problem???

EDIT - I'm also haveing problems with my computer not getting auto-redirected when I'm using these forums and such.

I suppose you could try another browser.

The servers may just be down.

I recommend a change of browser as well. if not, are you behind a firewall or proxy? that can fux it up real bad.

I had the same problem, it was my isp's proxy causing it. I fixed it by entering the correct dns settings.

If you have a proxy, try disabling it in IE's connecion settings, or try it with a different browser (netscape/opera etc.)

or could it be something simple like your security settings?? Try setting them back to default

Check and see if you have 128-bit security. You need it to get into hotmail (help ->about internet explorer) It should say Cipher Strength: 128-bit.

Better yet, use a real email service: www.myrealbox.com

Its amazing how good your ISP email can be.

Until you move :p

But no, Bilbo is correct. Myrealbox's outgoing server is down, so at the moment, I'm using my ISPs SMTP server for outgoing messages. It's surprising how many how many people overlook the services ISPs provide free with 'Net access accounts, such as webspace and email.

OK, I tried signing in using Opera but I still can't sign in. I would use email through my ISP but they charge $14/year for an email account. I set all of my security settings to default so that can't be the problem. IE says my Cipher Strenght is 0-bit. How do I change that to 128-bit???

Ok I updated to IE6 and it seemed to have fixed the problem. It says Cipher Strength:128 now. I can also sign into my hotmail account. Thanx
