    commerical licence

    Hi guys,

I can't find any reference to licencing under the MilkDrop documentation. Although Open-source, what licence is it under?

    Can I use milkdrop commercially?

    Thanks,
    Adam

Just to let you know all individual presets still remain the property of the author(s) so you have to seek permission first if you want to use them.

And to be honest you seem a successful company with lot your jukebox systems throughout the world. I don't want to see the work of everyone here exploited.

i agree. as far as i'm concerned you need to write all your own presets. i for one havent spent time working on pimping out milkdrop so your company can make more money, although i may be alone here... i dont think its likely, unless you wanna talk about profit sharing

I agree with Rova, I wouldn't actually like seeing our artwork sold without us getting some form of compensation for it/us working with your end product. As long as it's still free it's okay....

The last thing that I want, is me and Eo.S.' presets displayed in an improper manner (like some how broken because we did not see the end product) and us not getting paid for it.

That being said. I haven't been working with MilkDrop as much becuase of Context Free, VVVV, and some gallery work we have been doing. But we still have new ideas in milkdrop, and would not mind working for money on visual type applications. (Creating new presets not included in winamp)

yeah i've been having a lot of fun with it..

check out some of the results:

now i'm just trying to think of ways to implement something similar in milkdrop.. to have those kinds of shapes growing in real time would be sweet

ya i pondered that for a bit, that would be a hell of a feat...

it would prolly have to be just the final drawing, i dont know how ya could put there rendering engine "next" to ours.. but i deffently dont know everything so.
although i guess ya could make it kinda like a custom shape, except the per-frame ither tells it to reset or defines how far through the drawing to render this frame(for controling animation)

would prolly be easyer to take some of the code from milkdrop and put it into there proggy(i think its open source) even just music reaction would be cool... although still not sure how that would work ither.

                    Hi Guys,

I am exactly where you are at with this. As developers here, we all respect eachothers Intellectual Property. There is no way we'd be using any authors presets without an agreement / renumeration.

I've been investigating visualization software for sometime, but some authors are asking ridiculous prices (USD $200K+). To me that isn't worth it- it is not a significant enough feature to warrant that kind of money.

We'd be spending some significant time developing presets, but would be interested in purchasing presets as well. If this is something you are interested in, I'd like to hear from you.

Presets for compensation definitely interest both Phat and I, but of course, we'll need to see the details of your expectations in a licensing agreement, as well as how those work in with our expectations.

Definitely interested, but I'd like to know more information about what exactly your product is.
