old games

anybody think that modern computer manufacturers should at least make their computers compatible with all those old games that are out there. somebody gets a new computer, and then they cant play like some of the best games out there, just because the computer companies couldnt provide a simple partition on the computers. i know we can do it ourselves, but why dont the computer companies do it? we pay them to make the computers work, so shouldnt they?

Providing complete backward compatibility is a pain, and not worth the effort in most cases.

For starters, many ancient games used the processors clock speed to regulate the timing of the game - thus they appear to run at rediculous speeds when used on a 200Mhz processor, as they were designed to run on something that required 4Mhz.

The moral of the story is to keep original systems, if you still require the games/software that runs on them...
