Mr J is right. althought jellby is a good skinner, the number 1 is everyone who opened there image editing program and made a skin from scratch

if you want my opinion its Jasonl (made Apollo, Apollo2, Kaolla, Celabral Core, Collective Descrepion) the spellings are wrong but you get the idea

i think that skining has taken on a life of its own. its not something thats easy to do. like cartooning, painting, or graphic design there are the ones that stand out for some people. i for one think the work of dave McKeen is unreal. and the artwork and design skills i see with the skiners is awsome as well. mad props to all the skiners, that stuff is hard work and takes up alot of time.:winamp:

It's hard for me to name a "best skinner", because there are skins I absolutely love by skinners that haven't released anything else, or whose other skins weren't anywhere near as good. So I'll say: these skinners have struck gold more than once:

yes there is quite a few skinners who have great talent in both winamp 2 and wa3. monaux and vida seem to stick out for their particular styles, but im sure others such as raj i/o "struck gold" all the time.

If I had to choose one skinner as "the best" - it might be Raj I/O, because every one of his skins is radically different - and that shows a truly artistic mind. People that make the same style of skin over and over and over again just can't compare to that - it's almost like they've just got one skin in them, and they just keep refining that.




And Burnaway, thanks, but I'm not a great skinner. But I am a pretty darn good skin pimp, I'll grant you that :D

there is no best skinner, just people who are the best at the skins they make. For example, people like 883 make great, well defined, sharp metal skins, whilst people like raj i/o make great artistic skins, skins which are different. Then you get people like neko, who change slightly with every skin they make, but they don't make every style of skin, but every skin they do make "fucking 0wnz" (i believe this term is appropriate).

Very true BH, but for the style of skin I like the most Jasonl makes them almost spot on! I love full detailed LCDs (what i try to make, and fail :() with a nice metal boarder, a few nice animations and that (to me) is a perfect skin.

Thats what I'm trying to do with my newest skin, but I can't do the LCD, whatever I do looks shite.... Ahh well supose I'll get it right 1 day...

it also depends on what style YOU like.. of course you might not like someone who creates anime skins whereas other people only prefer anime skinners. it's more a personal opinion on who the best skinner, other than a public decision vote blah blah blah. everyone's different in their own way so we're all unique skinners really, even if we think we're crap. :)

I am a fan of the clean lcd - but I lean more towards function over form and realism. I really liked that last WA2 skin you and bizzy did. (or was it you and binary hero? - somebody with a B, I'm sure of that!)
