college advice...

Ok, I'm looking for a little advice here. I have a few choices, all look well but I need some solid advice. My first choice was PC repair, now I am facing another choice, Graphic design. I need some pros and cons between the two. I could just try to get degree's in both while the gov wants to pay for it all. What do you guys think? Who here is in either field or both? I also have the option of going off center to an ITT college that offers both courses but I have to "A" complete a trade on center before I get that option. Your advice is apreciated.

PC repair *shouldn't* be a college major. you can learn it in a 2 month crash course. go with the other option. WHATEVER that may be.

If you're gonna choose graphic design, go to a GOOD graphic design school; don't do a liberal arts school where you get an Art degree and a concentration in GD. You won't get enough experience, most likely. In other words, don't go to Valparaiso :D

Go with graphic design, theres more money in that than pc repair...

Yes! I am very interested in GD. I just don't have the money to learn it on my own. Most of those programs are really expensive. While I have the chance at a school that wants to pay for my way, I am goin for it. After I at least have a certificate, I can get a good started job and finish learning what I need at a school of my choice. Till then, I'm stuck with what they give me.

I would disagree. The fundamentals of art are the same whether you've got a pencil or a mouse. An art degree from a good art school will mean more than a graphics design degree from an unknown school.

I've seen several graphics designers say the same thing: Get a real art degree.
