Music Stereotype names?

I know this isnt a winamp related topic but this is the largest music forum i have found to date.

I was just wondering if there is a stereotype name for people who listen to techno/house/dance etc. kind of like people who listen to rock are called "rockers" hehe

Huehuetenango 30th August 2002 01:08

insomniac 30th August 2002 01:09

You don't have to worry about being off topic here, General Discussions is for everything and anything Winamp related or not.

Hi and Welcome to the forums hon! You can feel free to talk about anything in here. It is a great group of people here!

Anyway, I do believe the above posts are correct and they are called ravers.

What kind of music do you listen to?

me 2. it's hard when you just get here and are rejected. imho there needs to be more ppl like missy.

e-raser 30th August 2002 05:00

well i used to be a raver so here is some insight to its meaning,

Raver: refers to a style of dancing to music. it's style emphisizes complicated arm movements, with some foot work.
usualy complimented by glowsticks and anything else which can enhance the movements seeing how a "rave" is traditionaly very dark

good. i hate it when people are stereotyped (although i do it sometimes :o) nice to see the mess cleared up.

They're "townies", and the music is usually played at high volumes from a Nova, Fiesta, or Saxo while "barry-lapping" a town centre.

I am know as a metlar, or a grunger! :(

jyvasaa 30th August 2002 10:03

your point?

OutKast 30th August 2002 12:41

My point is that, A metlar or grunger is the slang for a person who listens to rock. That was all. God.

Clubber.

But then again I'm very old and don't know what the groovy kids are jiving about these days. ;)

james 30th August 2002 23:54

I'd go for clubbers, personally.

Incidentally, one of my pet hates is people who turn up on the forums and post 500+ messages in their first month or so. Some do turn out ok (inatlantis/andysanders) but others, well, don't ;)
