Rebuilding my old skin "ONE"

1 Attachment(s)
i had this in the Im back to skinning thread, but i should've started a new thread after i said i was back...

anyway, im making a new skin from my old skin "One"--
http://classic.winamp.com/skins/deta...ponentId=73649

anyway, i made that with styleskin and PSP and Skinamp (to make the cbuttons.bmp and the other Misc things that im to lazy to create) but dont worry i go back and edit them to make them my own and not skinered

so heres what i have so far
1. the main.bmp has undergone HUGE revisions, buttons remade, added mono/stereo, changed the Chaos bar, moved things around, and changed colors.

I am planning on continuing the changes to the skin. please tell me about any bugs that i need to squash and other Misc. ideas on the skin in general.
attached is a copy of my current progress...

Hmm... new one looks like some kind of 'ArmyAmp' or something. Lots of camoflage paint and rough stencilling to come? :) Still pretty early on and it looks fair enough. Only thing I would say is the labels on the cbuttons are really hard to read. That wouldn't matter if they had different symbols but since they're all the same shape lots of people would be hitting the wrong buttons by mistake.

the text colors will change once i get some nice text that flows with the current color scheme...

it looks too...beveled is the word I would use. I can't stand that effect in my skins, but it can turn out good.

Then again, recently I have been doing bevels by hand.

try the airbrush, bevel filters are done way too much.

what? ok i think you people dont get what im doing...
im using a program called styleskin to put a color and texture onto a template that i make in PSP, and im rebuilding my old skin. ONE.

I am not using any PSP filters, airbrush, etc.

i am having difficulties with the titlebar.bmp concerning the winshade feature. they share 1 line.

OT, but important --- THAT IS RETARDED they should be spaced out a little. (just 1 extra pixel thats all) but thay would have to rewrite EVERY skin in the world... but hey thats just my feelings on it. NULLSOFT PLEASE FIX THE PROGRAM TO make titlebar 1 pixel taller... :/ and make the winshade bars apart by 1 so the title bar is truely 14 pixels and not 13 in the winshade :/
anyway here is a pic of my skin working... its nice and preety:D

looking good so far except in my opinion all the sliders are BLAHHH
vol bal posbar and eq all of em just BLECH

as far as the bevels they look good done to much be damned

question?

why rebuild just not satisfied with first one eh...

and as for the shared line bug if your ws's follow the basic principle of your titlebar i dont see the prob...

they are both 14 pixels justg unfortunately the bottom line of one will be the same as the top line of the other. not so bad in some instances but just horrible if your trying to put a pic together like a jigsaw puzzle on the 3 ws which iam trying to do with my current project (to no avail by the way, at least not the way i want it to look) any how plug away.

Mr_Tough_Guy 4th September 2002 15:39

doesn't matter what program you use, the effect is the same, it looks really bevelled, doing it by hand using the airbrush can reduce this and will make the skin look better IMO, but hell it's your skin, if this is the way you want to go, go for it.

as for the pixelbug in the WS, there's no way they're gonna fix that, if they do all the skin made so far will get screwed up, just use the region.txt to make the line transparant

I think your EQ will cause problems. The bits between the sliders are much more noticeable than the tiny black sliders themselves. Obviously I haven't used the skin but it's already shaping up as being hard to use without even being very detailed or flashy to compensate. :( So where exactly are you going with it? What do you need suggestions for if you're just doing it for yourself? I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that (might be just as well) but still, anything up your sleeve?

RanDom_ErrOr 4th September 2002 19:59

good idea mr_tough_guy... i will do that,
and btw i am working the sliders (they will change...) and there is a bug (if you notice) @ the far left EQ bar (the preamp) i have to make the 2 bars extend allthe way to that bar to fix the bug. or i could make the flat area around the sliders more, but that would ruin the look of the skin...

Whoo hoo... i have EVERYthing on the main and the playlist skinned... the hardest part is over. now i need some people to help my debug my skins (atleast the parts i have)

i have not yet skinned the PL or MB or mikroamp so dont flame me on that...

the only things i have to do (that i know of) is to change the buttons on the Playlist and change the monostereo (i know what im going to do for that...)

anyway here is the skin :)
