WinACE Problem

Ok, even though several members tried to help me with this I still dont get it so here goes.

I used WinACE to make an archive of my files, but it has three .c01 files. Two are 648mb and the third 254mb. Now I need to burn it to a cd. Do I have to burn the .c01 files along with the .ACE file to do an unzip? If so, then how come I have games in .ACE format that dont have a .c01 file added, and they still work?

This is a simple compressed file, not a CD image. You may have multiple archive parts if you want to spread the archive over multiple smaller files.. The first file of the archive would be typically a *.ACE file, and the other archive parts would be *.C0x. If you want to extract such an archive, you open the *.ACE file and hit the extract button.
The contents of your ACE archive may be a CD image, that you can burn using your CD burner.

Did you tell the program to zip the file so that it can fit onto a 650MB CD? If that's what you did, you should try putting the files onto CDs first. If you have 3 CD-RWs, you should use that first, in case it doesn't, unless you can afford to use 3 CD-Rs

But in simple terms, does this mean that I need the .c01 files to actually backup and extract my data?\

Yes, if there are any absent *.C0x files, you will not be able to use this archive.

That depends on how the file was compressed... if "Volumes" were used then yes, you need the *.c0x files, else, the *.ace file is enough.

Ok then. Here's my new pic. I hope it shows up.

I believe "volumes" are on, otherwise he wouldn't have any .c00, .c01, etc files. And yes, you need all of them. That's what the format was designed for. That way you can get a large file spanned acroos a few cd's extreamly easily.
