The World sucks.

Xerxes pointed me to this a while back... seems kind of fun to dredge up the past, now and then.

The numbers are about what I expected to see. Wars happen, people die. It's a fact of life.

Hmm, interesting stats... Let's hope the 21st century isn't as gruesome!

Yeah, I already forgot! Good going into this century!

Depends on the trend warfare takes- lots of deaths in the previous century were machine gun deaths, due to incompetent leadership that didn't realize that machine guns are extremely hard to overpower with just infantry rushes.

IMHO, the war deaths of the next century will be mainly of the biological sort- germs, plagues, poxes and their brethren.
Possibly a nuclear bomb or two.

The question that will decide it though is if the world erupts into global scale wars again....

TexasFlash 7th September 2002 00:14

So what you're saying is that most of the deaths in this century are going to be civilian? That's a conforting thought....

Curi0us_George 7th September 2002 00:20

Yeah! Go angry faces and exclamation marks!

Aeroe 7th September 2002 00:21

i don't see another massive conventional global war. no one besides the US has the resources to pull that off.

Well that's the problem with weapons of mass destruction, which are all the rage these days. No self respecting entity that fancies itself a "world player" these days would be caught dead without a little secret store of doom viruses and bio terminators.

Unlike an army of guns, Nuclear Weapons and Biologicals generally affect huge areas - I therefore reason that the chance for civilian casualties is greater. It's hard enough these days to hit military targets with so called "smart" weapons.

Whoops, there goes another Chinese embassy... http://216.40.241.68/contrib/scorchio/slookr.gif

This world is getting too small to live in, and if Y2K hadn't done us in as we expected it to. Then what will?

Bilbo Baggins 7th September 2002 07:15

The small army of angry midgets that is out tere...

Xerxes 7th September 2002 07:30

The Irish? :p

Trigear 7th September 2002 07:34

i'm pretty sure someone or something really stupid is going to wipe out all human life in the next 100 years. the question is when, and will i still be alive when this happens?

sgtfuzzbubble011 7th September 2002 08:45

I'll just catch a ride on the nearest comet. :D
