Older version of Winamp 3?

Whenever I load a skin onto Winamp 3 I get the message:

"The skin you are trying to load is for an older winamp3 version.
are you sure you want to load this skin? (It might crash winamp3)"

Is there an older version anywhere?

ToneDef 20th September 2002 19:51

Does anyone get this message???

FleZ 20th September 2002 20:31

I get it with any new skins, and then winamp 3 crash and i have to reinstall it...so I won't dl skins anymore...

ToneDef 20th September 2002 20:34

Mine always says it but never crashes!
Is it a fault in the skin? or the program?

1. Be sure that you have clean installed Winamp3.0. That means make sure that any previous versions have been completely removed from your system.

2. Skins downloaded from Winamp.com have been verified to work with 3.0. Make sure you aren't actually downloading a skin from some other site, that might claim it is for 3.0 when it is really for a alpha/beta/rc version. If you download a skin from another site, and it fails to work with a clean installation of Winamp, try to contact the skin author, he may not be aware that his skin isn't working.

I made a skin right now, but it says it's intended for older versions everytime I reload it! Why?..

iPlayTheSpoons 23rd September 2002 04:53

probably a problem with skin.xml...or you heiarchy.

Bizzeh 24th September 2002 11:59

skin.xml look for <winampabstractionlayer version="0.6"> or <winampabstractionlayer version="0.7">... it should be the 2nd line down... if its version 0.6 or 0.7 then its for and older version on winamp 3, if its 0.8, it should/will work for winamp 3.00 (build 488)

hope i helped
