How do you point to something when in public? With your finger or with your chin?

When I saw that you had responded to this thread I vowed that if you mentioned anything about cactuars that I would permanantly put you on my ignore list.

I see no point in reading your posts anymore because they include nothing but cactus references.

i use my right index finger to point to objests close to me, but as for far away objects, i prefer anything long and thin like a stick.

It's not his fault he's a cactus. At least he's a character rather than just another poster. :)

I sort of point with my head.

The finger is overt- the chin is more like "Don't look now, but to your left is that big hair lady from the Trinity Broadcasting Network" ;)

Depends , If the guy{or girl} you like is sort of behind some else it's a "head bob" nod wink twitch move. Uh same if your boss catches you and your bud on nineteeth cig break. If it's the Statue Of Liberty POINT!

Sometimes a finger, sometimes a foot, sometimes my head, sometimes just my eyes (if I'm trying to be discrete).

I've heard that it is not polite to point with your finger in public, but to be honest, I don't think it really matters that much. I point with my finger.

If I'm pointing out a hot chick, a slight head nod, in conjunction with minor movement (rolling, I suppose you could call it) of the eyes. Sometimes I nudge.

i usually look in the direction point and say, "look over their. its a bird. its a plane? no wait its that darned cactaur"

i usually jesture with whatever object i'm holding in my hand, failing that, i tend to use my finger

Either point with my finger or nod in the direction of the whatever-it-is.

I run over to whatever I'm trying to show, and I poke it several times with my index finger whilst saying "This, this is what I'm talking about!" :D:D

i just go o-o to >-> then o-o or o-o to <-< then o-o you know? with my eyes (they dart)

Cept, I dont use my foot, and if I want to be discreet, I'll use army terms like, that big haired lady is to your X 'o clock.

Depends on what I'm pointing out. Finger/thumb if I'm pointing an object out, quick glance/nodding in direction if I'm pointing a person out that I don't want known that I'm talking about. Otherwise, I'll just say what I'm trying to point out, and sometimes in conjunction with a "pointer"...

"Check that out, they've got the new Birdhouse skateboards in" - Hoping they know where they're located at, or they can easily find it theirselves if it's located in an obvious direction.

"Check that one chick over there in the red shirt" :nod in the girl's direction: - Specifically talking about a girl in a red shirt, but pointing out WHICH girl in the red shirt, if there are more than one.

I think it's impolite to point at people.

Well, I generally only do that if I'm carrying stuff. :)
