I just watched an episode of Seinfeld, a show I, under most circumstances, despise, but it posed a very important question. Should do not rescusitate orders be legal? Especially from family members? Would you ever ask someone to pull the plug on you if you ever became debilitated?

Mrs. Deaux (Sue) and I have an agreement on that very issue.
We intend to check out together when we get too old/sick. Her father had Alzheimer's, and after his passing she asked me to swear that should she develop the disease I'd help her make her exit. I promised I would. The resulting conversation ended in us both promising to assist the other should it become necessary. |
Do not rescusitate orders are a good thing.
It's better to let someone die with dignity, than to keep them in a state of vegatation. My daughter and I have the same agreement as John Deaux and his wife. We're completely ok with that. |
i think that they are a good thing
after what happened to my grandfather, my grandmother wrote a living will which included the circumstances under which to not resucitate her i agree w/ them, so long as the person who it applies to has consented to it, and it's not simply the family choosing to do taht |
