why playing .wma files takes much more procesors time than playing
.mp3 (it is stronger compsesion i now... but it was almos the sam in Winamp 2.x) what's going on with wma tags??....not implemented? |
wma support is provided from microsoft, please report any issues to them directly, or alternatively, use a different format like vorbis if you require files of smaller size.

OK.
answer is same as: we dont do that and dont ask us but... thanx anyhow. P.S. back to good old mp3 :)) |
Stick with the nonpropriatary files
Isn't it funny. First microsoft and mac are battling. Now it is an all out war between AOL(winamp), microsoft(wmp), and others. We now have 17 types of audio files. 14 of wich are all propriatary to their specific player. Why is it that wmp creates files only usable by wmp. Realplayer does the same. Unless you specify they make the files MP3 or WAV. Let us stick with the two main file types that are compatable with everything. MP3 is the only file type I will use. MP3 is compatable with my computer(regardless of what player I decide to use today and tommarow.), my dvd player, my home radio, my car radio and my mp3 player. This same file (mp3) will be with me forever. If the companies decide to come together and make a new file type that is A: nonpropriatary B: cross compatable with all my systems C: smaller without losing quality, I may decide to use it instead of MP3. Untill this day comes, I will continue to use MP3 only. You should too.
Continue the revalution. l-P. It's alot better when your blindfolded. You don't have to see what they are doing to us. You can't see the minipulation. P.S. You know those lovly user agriements you sign to use there produccts. Winamp, WMP, RealOne, Sonique, and others have put a new clause into there user agriement. This clause gives them the ability to enter your file systems that are using the player. You agree to allow them to see what files you use, resurch the origin of the files, resurch if a copywright infringment has taken place, and share any information gained about you with the copywright holder of the music. What? They can HACK* into your pc and look at any files that you have used there player to play. They can not look at files not yet played on there player. They can check to see if the music way illegaly downloaded or copied. They can share information about you with anyone who ownes a copywright to a file played by there player. This includes but is not limited to: Illegal use of the file(sharing on a P2P network), Names size and date of the file, how you got the file (from a CDrom,P2P, websight, or other), what other files you have, and any other information benificial to the marketing of the copywright holder and/or the Media player owner. *It isn't realy hacking, because you gave them permition by clicking agree or by using the player or both. This makes it legal. You invited them into your pc. |

Re: Stick with the nonpropriatary files
'Why is it that wmp creates files only usable by wmp. Realplayer does the same. Unless you specify they make the files MP3 or WAV'.
My winamp can't play the majority of my .wma files, it says it's thinking about it but no sound, dBpowerAmp on the other hand, works fine with anything I chuck at it. Since both winamp and poweramp use the propriety micro$oft codec (I presume), why is this the case? Anyone? |
