dial-up problem

ok, this is kinda difficult to explain but ill do my best. i am running windows xp and winamp 2.81. when i have winamp playing a song, and go to click to dial-up my web service, there are small interuptions in the music when my computer begins to connect. i know this is not a ISP prob because it all starts even as it is dialing. it used to do this a long time ago and then stopped for the last 6 or so months. but now it is doing it again. i was wondering if anyone knew of somethin within the modem setting or anything that i could mess with to make it stop again. thanks

well i knew it didnt have anything to do with winamp... but it just started doing it after i defraged my computer and stuff the other day... and its not a software modem, but maybe my computer is trying to see it as that.

Check to make sure your modem doesn't use a HSF or HCF chipset. Surefire way to tell if your modem is a winmodem or not.

That always happened to me when I was on dial-up

did the same thing when I loaded the ISP program

I just figured it was normal

In that case, this diagnosis is accurate:

There's nothing you can do, aside from buying a new modem. Assuming you make a maximum of 5 connects a day, though, it's a nuisance that I would learn to live with. Not that big of a deal, really :-|
