I don't know if this gets to Winamprocker? I am new to this. on my post # 3. Didn't think it was possible to arrange-to be specific what you see thru option then selecting "skins" is what I also want to arrange. Assume this is what Winamp processes through itself when you download a skin and Winamp just takes and internally makes the skin part of the program in the order you send a skin and open it in "Winamp" .exe.
What about just trying uninstalling, and use install file to reinstall. Don't think "skins" in folder are uninstalled- and then Winamp is reinstalled it picks up skins internally from skins in folder that wasn't uninstalled?? Would it then be in the order that I have chosen? I have a complete backup copy of Folder : Program Files\Winamp. If it doesn't work, then put my backup copy back to the Program Files\Winamp. Problem is, I have no idea if Winamp has other folders somewhere else on hard drive ????????? |

It picks up the skins in order that they were added.
If you uninstall completely, and reinstall, then add the skins all at once they'll be in alphabetical order. It's one of the things that's bugged me about Winamp since forever.... |

Thanks C2R. But do have question? When you "add" skins, do you cut/copy them out of "skins" folder. Then totally uninstall and just cut or copy back to skins folder(in Winamp folder)or do I just leave skins in skin folder and the install process picks up skins that are there and takes them internally to Winamp? -in the order it finds the skins?
This assumes I have gone to Winamp\Skins folder and put them in order I want alphabetical/favorite order/or otherwise? and Winamp uses my order. By the way ,again, this is Win 2.81. By the way I have 30-40 skins. So redownloading in my order just wouldn't hack it! And "trying" it out is almost not worth it. |
blah, just copy the skins to a different directory, point the skin browser (alt+s) to that directory and the skins are alphabetically sorted in the skins menu
edit: no need to unintall/reinstall, a custom order is theoretically possible by copying one file, opening the menu, copying the next file, opening the menu and so on... note: you need to copy the files, moving doesn't work afaik |

LK :
When I copied "skins" -all of them -to a new folder-(before I copied, I put them in the order I wanted)- the order in the new folder came out sorted alphabetically I didn't fool around rearranging. I went back to Preferences\skins, changed to my new folder for skins- and you were right, Options\skins was also in alphabetical order as was Preferences\skins. I am not going to fool around with it any more. This is good enough!! Thanks!!! ELJ |
Mine are alphabetical.. I made my own skin folder from the start.. if yours ever screws up try it
