how do brain waves and program design relate?

the four brain stage are as follows:

Beta (14-21 cps): The doing action state - waking hours, doing playing, working
Alpha (7-14 cps): The relaxation state - the door to our subconcious mind
Theta (4-7 cps): Creativity & inspiration state - meditation
Delta (0.5-4 cps): Deep Dreamless sleep - natural healing

cps = cycles per second

well, how does this all relate to programming, well, applications go thru an alpha and then beta state, before 'final'. my question is that is this where they got the idea from, is cps also therate of which an app is being designed? is there a such thing as theta and delta state?

lol, the terminology used to denote the various stages of software developement has nothing to do with the terminology used to refer to different types of brainwaves...my understanding has always been that "alpha" and "beta" were used simply because they represent the first two letters of the alphabet, and alpha comes before beta, so software in its earliest development pahase is "alpha," and when it gets close to a final version it's "beta," the terms just denote the relative developmental state of the software in a very ambiguous way.

Keep in mind that words like "alpha," "delta," etc. are just the latin (I think) pronunciations of letters, and have no intrinsic meaning, and are used widely in MANY different fields to denote any number of different things (for example, in most scientific fields, "delta" denotes a change in a value, regardless fo whether it is measured in seconds, grams, hertz, or whatever), and the different things which these words are used to refer to tend to NOT have any sort of interrelationship.

Greek. And a "cycle per second" is referred to as a Hertz.

Yeah, it's Greek. I'm actually taking it in school right now. What I don't understand is why they make me take a foreign language when I have a hard enough time understanding the one I speak fluently! That's another thing, why even learn another language? You're just going to forget it in a few years. I will never have any reason to speak anything other than english.
