math help
k, i had geometry first period last year, so i slept through it. now its coming back to bite me in the ass. this is the part where you all come in.
how do i do: r sin theta and r cos theta? thanks, btw, its for converting polar coordinates to rectangular. |
What are you trying to find here? I don't understand the question.
Lots of love, Mea |
Your polar co-ords will be given as two parameters - (r,theta)
To convert to rect co-ords x co-ord = r times sin(theta) y co-ord = r times cos(thea) (edit) if theta > 90 degrees you will need to observe the sign (+ve and -ve) (/edit) UJ |
whats +ve and -ve?
this is for a computer program that converts (r,theta) to (x,y). |
Shorthand for positive and negative.

In that case it may depend on what language you're using. The function calls to Sin(theta), Cos(theta) should take care of the sign for you.
The other thing to check is whether theta is given in degrees or radians. UJ |
