Record anything through soundcard
 

I know this has been discussed before, but I have a different application.

It would be nice to have a record button on winamp that records anything that passes through the sound card. I have my television, my home receiver, vcr, dvd player, guitar, internet etc. all passing through my sound card. When an artist I like is on Letterman or Leno, I record it into wav, then compress to mp3 and share it online. I also write music on guitar and record it into wav format using the "line in" on sound card. I love "The World Cafe" on the local public radio station. I sometimes set my computer to begin recording if a good artist is performing. All this leads to more live/acoustic/rare performances being recorded and shared as mp3's. Others have suggested recording live internet audio streams. But Winamp can't record so I use PolderbitS Sound Recorder. It works great but I wish Winamp could do this. I t seems natural to have a record button.

i guess most people don't use their computer the same way as me and therefore don't need the record feature. But if the rest of you get your computer integrated completely into your home entertainment system, you might better see the use of it.
