winamp h4x0ring my box?
 

WTF?!?!

I went and watched a movie and then came back into my room where i found norton internet security blinking away with its happy little warning that something has happened.

I check what happened and it says intrusion attempt made.

I clicked more info and low and behold there in the intruder section is www.winamp.com

Enclosed is a pic (IP address removed)

you should've gotten more information. chances are it's (a) a cookie alert or (b) winamp gathering anonymous usage stats (assuming you agreed to that).

have you updated to the latest Winamp? There was a security leak in the previous versions like 2.80.

Are any of these options enabled in WA3 Prefs?

Usage Reporting -> Allow Winamp to report anonymous usage stats
Winamp Browser -> Enable music file lookups
Internet -> Check for new versions....
CD Playback -> Enable audio cd / file recognition (2 separate options)

Usage Reporting -> Yes
Winamp Browser -> No
Internet -> No
CD Playback -> No
