Winamp 2.81 Skins

I have looked throughout the forums and I cannot find any information on skins that actually helps my situation. I want to download skins but so far none of them have worked (even by changing .wal to wsz). I also went to a post that said to click there to go to winamp2 skins...but when u try to download those, it takes you to a screen filled with code instead of downloading. If you have any other methods to get winamp2 skins, please help me. thanks. :(

First thread in this forum, downloaded skin won't work.

Have you tried the save target as method?

Right click on download link, choose "Save target as", save to skins directory, usually located at
C:\program files\winamp\skins

Start Winamp, Press ALT+S to bring up the skin browser, choose skin from list.

This thread, also in this forum about 10 or so posts down, might help you with the "garbage text" display thing you have going on.

Are you trying to download with Mozilla, by any chance ?

I have tried the method you just gave...it didn't help at all. All of my downloads and files are newly loaded onto my computer...so the pages of code I saw came from messed up links or something on the page I went to. In the regular skins site, the files will download (even when I do save as...) but they absolutely won't load. I still need actual help.

I am downloading with Internet Explorer...and I have tried with Netscape...I got the same results either way.

I believe there must be a problem with the skins...all of the Winamp files loaded on my computer were loaded the day before yesterday (i had to reboot due to content downloaded on my computer)...so I know there's nothing wrong with my Winamp. Somehow...someone's not telling me what's wrong with the skins...or what I have to do to load them. PLEASE HELP!

What skins are you downloading, please provide links, not names.
Where are you getting these skins for, again provide the exact links
Are you sure you are not trying to use skins for WA3 on WA2?
Did you check the second thread that detailed what sounds like exactly the same problem you are having, pages of junk on the screen, if you have read it, did you check the MIME settings etc etc?

Mr Jones 15th January 2003 15:22

Also, what exactly happened when you tried the right click/save target as method?

whyteraven21 16th January 2003 02:16

The right click method downloaded it fine...when i went to apply the skin...it would not load (although it said it was loaded)...it just wouldn't show up.

Mr Jones 16th January 2003 06:19

and the other questions ?

DJEgg solved my problem with downloading skins...now I need to know if anyone knows where I can download the base skin for creating your own skins...when I clicked on the link it took me to that page where you refresh, detect network settings, or go back...I can't seem to find a way to download it.
