Don't know how winamp3 works
I'm new on winamp3, I've just downloaded it and could not operate it. I've trying to put radio in function over and over but I always failed. Could you please explain me how it works, I need some tutorial.
Thanks. Wirom. |
I have NO idea what you mean by "radio in function". Please be more specific.
Are you just talking about listening to radio stations? If that's the case, then do this... 1. Right-click anywhere on the main Winamp3 component 2. Select Windows > Winamp Browser 3. Click the "radio" tab in the minibrowser 4. Select a SHOUTcast station from there But that may not be what you want. You weren't very specific at all. You want a tutorial? These are some ways to obtain help or support... There is an Overview There is a Walkthrough There is a FAQ There is supposed to be (not yet) an Online Help section, but the BEST way to obtain support is right here in the forums, providing you are specific with your request. ;) And in the forums there is the Additional Winamp3 FAQ, and Troubleshooter Guide which answers many questions. And of course, you should always Search the forums FIRST for an answer. |
I just downloaded this as well - I recently tried your NSIS and it's great, so I thought "what the hell, let's try WinAmp too"!
Anyway, I have a similar problem in that I am used to Windows Media player which has a Radio Tuner button that displays a list of recommended stations and is integrated into Explorer such that it is quite simple to find a station. I can't seem to find the same functionality here. For example, Virgin Radio UK has a sub-station they call "Classic". When I fire up their web page ( http://www.virginradio.co.uk/thestat...assicrock.html ) and click on the "listen now" button near the center of the page, it fires up a player that connects to Windows Media Player. Can I connect to that stream with WinAmp? In addition, how do I use Winamp to search for a particular station that I know by name or by url? Thanks for your time! Randy |
As far as I know, most of the stations in the Radio Guide broadcast only in WMA (Windows Media Audio) format; I don't think Winamp will ever be able to play these streams, after all, this is Microsoft we're talking about!
I don't have that much experience with Winamp3 or the new winamp.com website, but I think there used to be a directory of shoutcast stations somewhere around there. They won't be the same stations as the Windows Radio Guide ones, but there's no way around that. Finally, if you go to the radio station's web site, look for a link that says something like "play now". If you click it and Windows Media Player pops up, you can try pasting the URL into Winamp's "open location" dialog: just right-click on the "open" button. On the other hand, if a new web browser window pops up (e.g. Yahoo Launchcast) there's probably no way to play it through Winamp. I guess they're just too paranoid about copyrights! :D |
