I love that stick mode too...

umm... only two things...
1. your placement of the icons on the next, stop, and open buttons look kind of funky... like they're squashed funny....

2. it would be nice to have a button on there somewhere that retracts the seek volume extentsion... it's nice to have there... but not always necessary and can become bothersome....

so it's another portable media player? Hasn't this been done about a bazillion times already? no offense, it looks real pretty, but other than the eye candy, it's the same as Boom, MMD3, D-shock, and all the others. They should just make a skinning kit that has all of Firsbees scripts in it, as well as the xml to have a main mode, stick mode, and "ultra-eyecandy" mode. I'm relly not trying to rip on your skin, it's just that the biggest draw so far is that the speakers are NOT going to be mandatory. That and the skin-swicher window, which helped me pick a diffrent skin pronto. I tried the skin, and used it for about 5 mins. Let me guess, soundblaster mode is a bunch of gfx with four or five copies of Frisbee's speaker script, right?

you seriously dont know what your talking about, its nto as easy as it looks, if you think there is a skinner.exe to do this for you, nice try, these things are a lot harder then they look, how is MMD3 and this alike? mmd is a rectangular, this is like a tall egg, i dont see any relationship, and about stick modes, its a normal thing to have a stick mode, its not like its a thing people copy, ah nm, not gunna waste my time

give me PSP, a month, and a guide to MAKI, and using nothing but frisbee scripts, I could make this verry skin. well, prolly more than a month, but realy, using MAKI cheats, this whole thing could be imitated.

For the stick, I like it a lot. I suggest you make the play button the same size as the rest of the control buttons. And do something with the text for the seek and volume. Very hard to read.

Also, someone suggested that Inactiva have a stick mode that fits in on the bottom of your screen. It was turned down, but I think it would be great for this skin.

I see that you visit Frisbeemonkey's skinning site a little too much there. Skins are a whole lot more than just Graphics. I know what you mean about the "portable device" thing being over-used. But ya gotta understand-- it's just a concept. Every skin is totally and completely different and unique in it's own way.

And anothr thing: the world doesn't revolove around Frisbeemonkey's sctipts. YOu may use their scripts, but in the real world, it's not as easy as copy and paste. iPlaythespoons has made 7 skins, and a huge thread dedicated to helping people learn Maki. Why would an experienced skinner use pre-done scripts? In the real world experienced skinniners like ipts don't use pre-done scripts. IMO ipts is a better skinner than Frisby altogether.

Just to set you strait, skinning is not all that you seem to think it is. If you don't like the concept, well, tuff man.

lookin at your main.m I can say this: the only thing that couldnt be duped without a custom script is the popupmenu to control the ticker scrolling (but you could use HH's "songtickerstopscroll.m" from moonkore to do that), and the custom vis which is just a dumbed down version of MMD3's vis.

and dont try and tell me IPTS didn't use premade scripts. The oldtimer script of theplague's is there, and the seekbyframe and volumebyframe scripts are Frisbee's. I don't know why he used a pre-done script, but he did, so I'd love to know when this "real world" begins.

hey guys! glad to see most of you like whats going on so far. i do have to take some issue with you JimmySmith. its true that i used some pre-made scripts(flipper isnt involved with the coding side). i sure as hell wasnt trying to hide it, or i wouldnt have included the original *.m files so clever guys like you could figure me out. one of the reasons fribee put those up is so you wouldnt need to write a new script every time to do the same thing. thats why i use them, its faster. now, if you you dont like the skin, thats your beef. you came in this thread for the sole purpose of belittling it. if its so unoriginal, just delete the damn file. all of main.m is 100% original , as well as speakers.m which wasnt in the last beta for obivous reasons. should no skin ever use custom vis again? or drawers? i guess since the default skin has a play button we should take ours out since it was just stealing the XML. oh well...

Okay, so this is my last post here. I'm not trying to be insulting. I have two comments.

1. IPTS - i didnt come to this thread for the sole purpose of belittling it. by the thread's title, i was expecting something better, and commented accordingly. i sincerely apologize for "wording" my comments as to offend.

2. my whole reasoning for making it such a big arguing point about the predone scripts were in response to RLF's question of "Why would an experienced skinner use pre-done scripts?" I understand the purpose of premade scripts.

With that said, let me add that yes, IPTS is a good coder...sorry bout the misunderstanding.

So don't bother telling him not to post in "your" thread, because it doesn't accomplish anything. If you have an issue with a member use the "Report This Post" function, it gets results. Don't Flame.
