Is there sapost to be a delay???

Is there sapost to be a delay in your broadcast? My friend just connect to a test Broadcast while we where on the phone and there was an about 30-40 second delay between what I said and what he heard on his Comp? What it just his connection/Computer? Is this normal? If it is, is there anyway to reduce the delay? Somone PLEASE help me!

Check out the results from a SHOUTcast forum search on 'delay', or 'buffer', or 'lag', or 'latency', or 'real time', or...

The answer to all is:
The buffer allows QoS (quality of service) to the listener.
If you want real time, then SHOUTcast is not the solution.

What? I thought shoutcast was live?? So what other programs can offer free Streaming stuff like if I wanted to make a Live Broadcast like www.tsncentral.com does???

Live != real time

However, what you are streaming will get to your listeners, just not instantaneously. That's the nature of the Internet.

So, it is live, in a sense.

Its not just SHOUTcast, i know top radio stations that have a delay too. I dont think you can just get LIVE as in live. There will be always be a delay in anything i think.

if you want no delay get an FM transmitter.
