Intro File

Hey I made a sweet intro file, its @ 128 my stream is at 48,
It sounds fine when i lisetn locally, external users mention its good, but choppy. I then used the % command and it didnt work at all. So i just disabled the intro file, Is there a way i can convert the 128 mp3 to 48? Like a plugin or something?

Thanks for your time.

When I said plugin i ment like a winamp diskwriter plugin or something like that... I would convert the file on a diff pc, then place it back in my content dir, and enable intro file..

Suggestion: Record your intro as a wav then use a tool (such as CDex) to create your mp3.

That way, if you run multi-bitrate streams, you can easily re-use the same intro file.

The % on the intro file is just a filename wildcard.
If you run a 128kbps stream and have introfile = c:\intro%.mp3, then the DNAS will look for c:\intro128.mp3. The DNAS does not do any re-encoding.

Remember, your intro file needs to match the sample rate and channels (I believe bitrate can vary) of your stream or else 'Bad Things' can happen.

I believe there are also performance issues when using an intro file, regarding the time it takes a listener to actually hear audio.

That would depend on your stream, my intro file works well, and nobody has complained yet,,,, I must have done something right for once :),
