Multi Instances problems... sometimes it works; sometimes not!
I installed winamp 2.81 on 2 computers. One is running WinME, the other (my Dell laptop) has XP.
I double click a songs on the ME and multiple instances of winamp will launch; but not on the XP laptop. The laptop is more powerful than the desktop running ME and Winamp 3.0 multi instances work; why not 2.81? I'd rather use 2.81, because the lag time on 3.0 is substantial! Help, please. |
In Winamp
Ctrl+P (for preferences) > Options > checkmark "Allow multiple instances" |
Tried it. It doesn't work. That's the problem. Any other suggestions?

I had not noticed this before because I don’t use multiple instances. Even with “Allow multiple instances” checked, double clicking on media files in Windows explorer does not start Winamp with multiple instances. Each new file is replaced in the playlist without a new instance of Winamp. Multiple instances can be started by the Winamp icon. Maybe an issue with XP? :igor: http://forums.winamp.com/images/icons/icon5.gif I can not reproduce the bug with Winamp 3.

Thanks, Johnny Mac...
You're probably right about it being an XP bug. I wish it worked this way, because it would be perfect for my DJ-ing.
I'd even settle for Winamp 3 launching as quickly as 2.81. Thanks for your help anyway, Johnny Mac. Give me a shout out if any improvements are made. Larry prod@hotz95.com |
It works fine for me in XP...

Works for me too, but with XP Pro.
