Can't open PLS files from server
This is very strange, and It was totally working before, but suddenly I can't download a listen.pls file from my webhosting provider's website? It just says it cannot download listen.pls the file does not exist? I've asked my provider and they claim it should work. it did I told them, but its not working anymore!
http://www.stickman-radio.com/listen.pls (through IE, won't download) http://www.stickman-radio.com/listen56k.pls http://www.stickman-radio.com/listen24k.pls (I've been using these files on this host's server since Oct, suddenly they can't download) http://www.stickman-radio.com/listen.pls (in Winamp URL open..works!) I don't get it? I've tried adding AddType audio/x-scpls .pls thinking that might help but it still doesn't work? What would cause the PLS file to not download anymore from IE link? This is driving me nuts as I know it was working before, also I know its not my clients configuration, I've tried this on multiple pcs, and I can open other broadcasters' listen.pls files from their website just cant open from my site? Hasn't work in over a month and my hosting provider has no real answers? Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Kirk Nowlan STICKMAN RADIO |
They all work here.
Did you install/remove somehting that would bork your pls association? |
Festerhead, hey man thanks for getting back to me.
Trust me its not working correctly, when I click on the links from this post it just opens a blank listen[1] in the Winamp window? I've tried this on multiple computers at home and at work. different operating systems, 98/NT/2K/XP etc. But the 1 thing I think they ALL have in common would be IE6 and Windows Media Player 9, so for a test I've loaded a blank Windows 98 Virtul Machine (VMWare) from scratch, loaded Winamp and I still can't open the files. If you type in the address bar: http://www.stickman-radio.com/listen.pls does it actually download and open my streams, or is it blank? A couple people from the AR group tried and one opened it and the other couldnt? I had Jay at RTB take a look and he could NOT open the files at all unless he save them locally or open them through Winamp. At least some people are seeing it? Now I know its not my client(s) because I went back to my old webhosting provider, edited my HOSTS file and pointed stickman-radio.com to the old IP address, I type www.stickman-radio.com/listen.pls it downloads the file no problem and plays the streams.... so then I disable the host entry I made and go to my current provider, I can't download from IE or click on the links in the post above, it just brings down an empty temp file listen[1]. I know its totally wacky, but its definately a problem on the host. At least in my tests. I can't figure this out, I can open a listen.pls that you may have hosted on your site or someone elses (ie. old webhost test) but not from mine? Oh...I just uninstalled Real Player from my system, I loaded Netscape 7 for my wife the other night and I notice RealPlayer has been launching up at startup, but I don't think that had anything to do with it. Well I guess I'm on my own on this one, I'm not finding many real answers to this bizzarre behavior. Any other ideas would be greatly apprieciated. Thanks & Regards, Kirk Nowlan STICKMAN RADIO |
