ID3Tagit is free and supports both ID3v2.3 and ID3v2.4. But since Winamp only supports 2.3, v2.4 tags are useless anyway.

anybody knows any program that still writes 2.2.0 version?

May I ask why you want to use an older version ?

i'm working on a program that reads and stores id3 info in database. i want to test it, but since i dont have mp3 files with version 2.2.0 i cannot do that.

I read that v2.3.0 surfaced in 98; chances are it was adopted fairly quickly. Your best chance would be to scour shareware/abandonware sites to find an encoder released prior to that.

I have WinAmp 2.9 and very happy with the new Library. I have a list of 3000 songs in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet and need a tool to access the data in Excel and assign this data (one file per row) to my mp3 files in ID3V2 format. Has anyone done this that can help please?

Thanks,
Steve
