XP Crashing / Playlist changes don't stay

I have WINAMP 3 and have WINDOWS XP

I recently ripped my entire collection of CD's into my computer, and have an unreal number of songs on the hard drive.

Since I had another party helping me with this, some of the CD's were ripped incorrectly. ALL of the songs are just in one giant list at the moment, and when I went to VIEW FILE INFO and changed the ID3v1 tags to the correct song info...TWO THINGS HAPPENED:

(1) After changing a handful of songs in a row, one right after the other (maybe 30-40 in a row), I would get either a WINDOWS ERROR or a WINAMP error. Both errors required me to shut down WINAMP.

(2) The other problem I'm having is when I make all these changes to the song info, and then (let's say) WINAMP crashes...and I have to restart (or if I just close it and restart it later), the files that I changed ARE NOT CHANGED, they are back to their original file name. In looking around a bit, I learned that the info on the file HAS in fact been changed, but the playlist doesn't reflect that, so I have to hit RELOAD INFO for the name to be changed in the playlist...

I really can't wait for the new WINAMP, if anyone knows an E.T.A on that, I would love to hear it...any improvements to the "Shuffle Mode" would be greatly appreciated.

If you do not have Winamp 3.0d, then you can get it here:
Latest Winamp 3
NOTE: You will have to deinstall and reinstall winamp.
Then, get this mandatory patch here
You may also want to find the file studio.xnf - make sure it is not marked read only. In Windows Explorer, right click on the file and do properties (I believe) and uncheck read-only.
In any of the skins I have used, there is a button "Save Changes" at the bottom of the window when you are changing the ID tags. You should hit that as you are making changes.
Not sure on Shuffle Mode, but would guess it is on the list for the next public release (no ETA - sorry)

Hope the above helps.

I've been hitting SAVE CHANGES every time...so that's not it...

I'll check out the new version...

Just so I got it right, I UNINSTALL WINAMP....RE-INSTALL IT....THEN DOWNLOAD the new patch....and then I'm all set??

Yes...

You MUST deinstall before getting the latest version...

Good luck...keep us posted.
