Cant Play Cd Files
 

Hi:

I recently installed version 3.0 of Winamp and I am pleased with it with the exception of the following problem:

It will not allow me to use it to listen to my CD disks. Here is some point by point information:

1. Winamp 2.8 still allows me to play the CD .cda files with no problem.
2. I am using the "default" skin on Version 3.0
3. With version 3.0, when I try to play a song by clicking on the .cda file, I get a message "The media converter "CD switcher converter" executed an illegal operation. Restart recommended" but that cures nothing.
4. In the Preference\System\Media options, I have "Play Audio CD's with Winamp" checked and .cda is also included in the "prefered media" file type list.
5. In the Audio\CD Playback menu, all options are checked.

What am I missing? Again, no problem with v2.8 but can't use v3.0

Press Ctrl+P -> go to Audio/CD Playback -> make sure "Enable CD audio extraction" is unchecked.

First, I want to thank you for such a speedy reply to my posting.

Secondly my thanks for your time and great help. You were right on the money. I had "Enable CD audio extraction" with a check. Once I unchecked it, it worked like a charm. I really don't understand what that option means or provides. There are a few others I'm not familiar with either, but I will experiment around a bit.

I'm using Mike Zee's skin (GOLD STACK) which I think is just fantastic. Maybe this is just unique to this skin, but I don't see how to set the timer to display showing time remaining or count down, but that is a minor detail and again, I'll play around and probably find it somewhere.
