This thread needs to be locked.
It serves no purpose but to self inflate an ego,
increase a post count, and create the same atmosphere
that's wrong with this forum.
As a matter of fact...
there's allot more threads here that need to be locked,
and allot more advice and warnings given.
Someone really needs to take control of this place,
someone who's not scared to enforce the rules,

A mod should delete this post and delete 10 posts off the users post count for every post-pump type post spotted from anyone. Maybe that will stop this type of shit starting in the forums. Will that happen? No. Why? maybe a mod can answer that one.

Because, when we over moderate, you all cry "the mods are too harsh, this is supposed to be a fun place for irelevant nonsense, wahahahah", so we let stuff slide, and then we get "this place needs more moderation, it's full of crap limp posts and irelevant nonsense , whahahah", so we then over moderate and you all go back to point one, wash, repeat , rinse......

bah, peple know me, thats what matters. peopel don't pay attention to me caue i have "forum king" under my penuin, they pay attention cause they know the penguin. They know who I am and know that I am not a complete dip-shit (most the time ;)). Same as how I woudl respeoct Mr. Jones, Gonzo, will, sawg, or anyone else even if the didn't have CT's. I know their name, and that is what matters.

I apologised for that many times. You have my permission to search back all my pointless posts, delete them and remove the appropriate ammount of posts from my post count. I say remove post counts entirely though so i don't care. None of this major dude junior member nonsense, just plain old forum activity.

Nah, that would be to heavey a deal, purging old posts only freaks up following posts and stuff, nah.

Besides a certain ammount of sillines is always welcome to a point.

Post counts are fairly usefull to me, they always help me see who is a new person in the crowd, I've lost count of how many times I've seen a new name with like 3 posts to their credit, being the person I am, I usualy then search posts for that person, and a fair ammount of time, you often find them crossposting the same topic, so in that sense they are usefull to me, that's one of the reasons mods can see them still.

Ok no post counts available to any non-mods. It was no use removing them from the straight up veiw if you're going to leave them in the profile. Remove them from veiw of regular members entirely. Would be a much better environment i think.

And i didn't mean all threads that don't have a point, i mean just blatant out and out, very obvious post pumping.

I'll suggest it, and see if our resident VB expert can do a hack for it like he did for mod view only.

An a perfect world that would be nice, but this is far from a perfect world. I've lost count of how many times i've answered a question in a thread only to find it's been crossposted somewhere else and an answer to their question has already been given.

When post counts were visible it was easier to guess. If a member had just joined and had 2 or 3 posts under their name it was worth hitting the profile button and then 'search for all posts by this user' to check if it had been crossposted. Without being able to see post counts it's harder to tell, either check every time there's a question posted by a junior member (since 90% of the questions asked in the ts forums are by junior members it's a pain in the ass) or leave it to chance and hope it hasnt already been asked and answered yet.

But without either it would be even more difficult (at least mod's can see post counts, so it's easier for them).

If people were junior members until they had 10 posts, then moved to member status (and they were the only 2 ranks available) it might work, but i think deep down some people like being a major dude or a forum king or whatever.

i was thrilled when i becasme "forum king" actually. i thought it was cool, but the excitement quicky dided when i realized it meant nothign really :)

I said: "Wait...I'm a Forum King, you have to take my post count."
They laughed at me again.
I left with no groceries.

Yes its a stupid thread. but it takes up what, 30 seconds of your time? You clicked on the thread knowing full well what the thread was going to be about. If you don't like a thread click on the back button. Or use a mouse gesture if you've got one, cause mouse gestures kick ass.

becuase if we let him do it, then we haev to let everyone. it's not just about flaming nobby, tis about saying that stupid threds like these only get you flamed and make peopel lose respeoct for you. This way (haha) newer members won't haev the desire to follow suit.
