Winamp Not Buffering Up....(Help needed)

I know this may have a simple answer, but i'll ask it anyway.

Basically i'm on a fast 56k connection, and can listen to streams as high as 56kbps for extended periods of time (for as high as four minutes) before I get an under-run and Winamp has to buffer it up again. However just now, Winamp is not buffering up in this way (a percentage is not displayed) but insteatd just buffers for a few seconds any plays. This is okay for lower quality streams, but causes skipping in the 56kbps streams (I would preffer 3 to 4 minutes uninterrupted music then skips every few seconds.)

Keep in mind that I had not touched any of the settings from withing the MPEG decoder plugin.

The only thing I did do was enable internet connection sharing for my dial-up connection (I was just playing around with it, and did not plan on seriously using it.)

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe you're having network/bandwidth problems? Does the problem still exist if you disable/remove ICS?

I'm amazed that you can listen to a 56kbps stream on your 56k modem connection.

Yeah, I have a really fast ISP, a brand new line, and a V.92 modem, it's really nice (in fact if it were a little faster I could actually have the 56kbps stream up non-stop, it just barely succedes to fill the buffer after a certain amount of time.)

Oh, I did disable ICS, and reconnected, however it still only wants to buffer the first few seconds of the stream.

Have you tried a downlaod test to see if the problem is bandwidth yet?

I'm not saying it's the problem, but we still need to test it to eliminate it as a suspect.

Problem solved, well, sort of.

It turns out the problem was that I had disabled something in Windows XP Pro when I had created a new account for myself on the system. I immeadately went in and disabled the usual services and enabled the network settings I thought were appropriate. The wierd part was, this happened after I had done all that. When I went back to the account I was previously using, it buffered up the correct way.

It would be a pain to pinpoint though, altought i'm thinking it had someting to do with the bindings I had assigned to my modem...

At least it's a start

Thanks for the help. :)
