Winamp 2.90 and 2.91 lockup problem/bug
Hi.
I just tried uninstalling v2.81 and moving to v2.91 a few days ago, and I had the problem which follows. After I discovered the problem, I uninstalled and gave v2.90 a try, but that was the same. I then uninstalled and went back to v2.81 which still works fine. So there is no doubt that there is some sort of new bug/issue going on here! I know that this problem doesn't happen on other peoples PCs that I have tried, but I have no idea why I am special! OK. So what happens is that I have a large playlist which I leave running, and after just perhaps 3 or 4 songs, winamp refuses to play the next song and just stops. Even if I click 'play' or try to load a different song, there is no way to get winamp to make a sound. I then have to close winamp AND KILL THE PROCESS before loading winamp again to make it start going again. I am using Windows 2000, AMD Duron 1GHz CPU, 256MB DDR RAM, FM801 5.1 PCI soundcard. I'm not sure what other relevant info I can tell you off the top of my head. Please reply if you think I have found something serious or new and I will do some more testing and see if I can better isolate when this trouble occurs. (i.e. I'm not sure which output plugin I was using directsound or waveout. I also haven't tested if it happens when it hits a particular type of file such as Ogg) Regards, DaveB |
