Winamp won't play CDs - ASPI problem
When I start WA 2.8 and go to play a CD, I get No ASPI Device found. What's going on? Thanks

Did you ever install CDReader? Try upgrading to Winamp 2.91.

Thanks Sawg for all those links. My problem has been halfway fixed: I did aspichk and problems were found, I downloaded and installed the aspi fix, now can play CDs on both my CD-ROM and CD-R drives. But, on the CD-Rom, when it gets to the end of the first track, it pauses and doesn't open the next track, instead get
"ASPI error 0x4 (SRB completed with error) Sense key: 0x3 (medium error) Sense Code 0x11 0x0 (unrecovered read error)" on the CD-R drive, the next track plays fine. I have CDReader installed. Thanks |
Probably bad settings in CDReader config for that drive to blame.
You can try to fix it, or you can do as Sawg suggested and upgrade to the latest 2.91 version. The default in_cdda.dll now has the option to "enable digital audio extraction", so there's no need to use CDReader plugin to achieve this any more. |
Forgot to mention, I am running 2.91. So how do I configure CDReader for that drive? Thanks.

Did you try removing the CDReader plugin and using the default Nullsoft in_cdda.dll plugin instead?
Prefs -> Plugins -> Input -> Nullsoft CD/Line plugin -> config: Checkmark: enable digital audio extraction (Winamp restart required) Or, do you still want to use the 3rd-party CDReader plugin instead? If so, I can't tell you how to configure it unless I know the full specs of the cd-rom drive in question. Prefs -> Plugins -> Input -> CDReader -> config -> (hi-lite drive) -> config . . . |
That did it beautifully, even CDDB found my bluegrass artist's recording. Thanks for the education...
