Please make it stop!
 

For some reason, I close winamp out and the music still plays. I exit the thingy on the taskbar you know the little lightning bolt in a white box, and still doesn't stop. I've got Netscape Radio playing now, but I've muted it because I've tried everything short of rebooting my computer (because that's going to get annoying if I have to do that every time!) to shut it off, but it won't stop. Any ideas?

Did you try Ctrl+Alt+Del and then see if you can shut it down from there? It will show up as the title of the file being played, maybe.

Yeah only problem is our computer only shows things that show up in the task bar.. I mean like if I have Yahoo in the icons task bar, it won't show up until I have it in the middle of the task bar.. like with Internet Explorer and such. You know? It has to have a bar in the task bar for it to show up on ctrl+alt+delete

i used to get that too...occasinally winamp3 would refuse to stop playing eventhought i have closed it.

btw in windows 98 studio or winamp is still running in the background eventhougt it does not appear in the ctrl + alt + del menu.

Don't think so, where would I find that? (btw, my older brother's suggestion was to press stop before shutting it off.. like I needed him to tell me that)

You have just responded to his 3rd question only, asking where to find the update patch.

I will answer that by providing a link to it for you now. But you never replied to DJ's first 2 questions.

First, make sure Winamp3 is CLOSED. Then download/install the official wa3update patch. The update contains the latest waveOut & DirectSound Output components, plus latest midi, mod, wav, ogg inputs.

Now reopen Winamp3 with the patch in place. See if the problem is still there. If it is then you still need to reply to DJ's first 2 questions as well, for any further assistance.
