Winamp 2.91 SVCD Problem...
I wish I knew exactly what version of winamp I had before I formatted but I'm pretty sure it was 2.90 (not positive though) ... At that time, I was able to play pretty much any video in winamp without problems. Now, I'm almost there, but I'm havning a problem with SVCD's. Just SVCD's. DivX, VCD, plain ol' MPG's, they all work fine.. but those pesky SVCD's aren't working right. I hear sound, but the video window never pops up and loading it myself does nothing. I have tried unchecking 'allow overlay' but this did not help. These movies worked fine and still work fine in PowerDVD but I would really love it if I cuold view them in winamp. I can't think of any other codec's I need to install but does anyone maybe know or some obscure one I may have installed before but havn't thought about this time? Any ideas?
System Specs: AMD AthlonXP 1800+ NVidia GeForce4 MX 440 SBLive! 5.1 Platinum 512 DDR RAM WindowsXP Pro SP1 (up to date) Thanks in advance! D.Nite |
I did a quick search of the forums, and it looks like you are not alone. Pretty much all of these people have the same problem as you - everything supported except SVCD. Apparently it is necessary to install a MPEG2 DirectShow codec which works with SVCDs in order for this to work.
All is not lost however. Taken from the Winamp3 FAQ: Quote:

Thanks. Seems I didn't search the forums enough, I found a solution. http://www.elecard.com/products/mpeg2decoder.shtml .. Theres a nice MPEG2 decoder/filter on that site and it works great now. Thanks for the help though, and if anyone else is having this problem, head over the the above site and give that a shot. worked for me.
