Bandwidth

I'm sorry if it is posted wrong in here of the subject is not the first.
But I have a question:

Where depends the bandwidth of which you can reach listeners on.
I mean, if I am maximum able to stream with 40 kbps, how many users can listen with 40 kbps?

www.radiotoolbox.com/online_tools/bandwidth.php click "Concurrent Listeners"

if ur bandwidth is 40k, then u wont even be able to stream to 1 person at 40k, but u would be able to stream @ 32k

per user that connects, takes up more bandwidth

1 x 32k user = 32k/sec
2 x 32k user = 64k/sec

u also need overhead, so u gotta leave some left over bandwidth for problems

so streaming @ 40k, on a 40k connect leaves no overhead so u gotta go down to 32k, which will then only allow u to stream to one person

maybe u should look into remote shoutcast hosting
