winamp in ie

ok i appologise if this has been asked before but i have done a search and couldnot find a relevant answer.

i am putting a link on a web site to my broadcast. when u click on the link u r asked to save, open the pls file etc. what i would like to happen is when u clik on the link it automatically open a player and sterts to play. i am not sure on how to do this for eg say the listner doesnot have winamp to play the pls file.

well by default the stream will play in a player which is capable of playing the stream.

i.e players include:
winamp
xmms
realone
music match

etc

if winamp is installed, and it still asks you to save it then the file assochiates are probably screwed.

ok thanks and i do understand your point but just some follow up points if poss?
1 does your answer mean that there is no way of avoiding the file open/save as approach
2 is there no way of initiating a plug in for ie to play the stream if there is how is this achieved
3 if the answer to 2 is no should i provide links to download the relevent player eg winamp and then they are able to listen

regards

1. Yes. Unless you visit every machine in the world and configure it appropriately.

2. Check out FreedomAudio

3. Yes, you should do so anyway.
