Being a DJ with SB Live 1024
 

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could please post some screenshots off their various settings when using Shoutcast with SB Live 1024.

I can't get the "push to talk" function to work properly, I've tried most of the settings, read most of the stuff here and I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

In your record panel...select What You Hear.

If you only read "most" of the stuff...you should have read ALL the stuff as this probably the most common error people make.

I am sorry, that screenshot was confusing.

My settings differs a bit from the screenshot, I HAVE selected What You Hear, and set all the others settings from reading the "Music and Voice" thread, however I STILL can't get it to work.

Again, sorry for misguiding screenshots.

Post accurate screen shots.
Other things to consider:
Is this your only soundcard in the machine?
Your microphone must plugin to the mic input on the soundcard (i.e. not a USB mic).

Same problem happens to me. it seems like all of the problems relate to the SB LIVE SERIES. Please help Tom.
I have set unmuted the mic in play mixer
I have set to "What U hear" in Record mixer
still it doesn't work.
If What U hear is selected, I am able to play MUSIC, however no voice if i lock or try to talk, listeners only hear the "fade"
If MIC is selected, listeners are only able to listen to my voice, regardless of the "Lock" or "Talk" option. No music.

I have updated my screenshots now (check the first post in this thread). The screenshots are now corresponding to my real settings.

I have also uploaded a screenshot of my "Input" tab in the SHOUTcast plugin. So if there is anything I should change in there, please tell me.

BTW; Yes, this is the only soundcard in my machine. I have a VIA onboard soundcard, but I have disabled this from the BIOS and I can't access any settings regarding it in Windows, so I guess that's not the problem.

My microphone is plugged into MIC-IN on my SB Live 1024 soundcard.

its stupid.. this problem has been going on for so long and theres no fix / help for it. or no one has solved it so far, so many people just doesn't care.. its wackk

if there is no fix to the problem, could I then somehow use both my soundcard, maybe the input on the onboard, and output on the SB Live 1024 card, to make it work propertly?

Any tips about that, Tom?

hey i have the same problem and i also have a buildin in soundcard.

What about if you use the onboard soundcard? In my case, winamp crash, and so I have to restart my computer in order to close winamp / get the sound back.

However, I think maybe activating the onboard soundcard, and using it's recording, and soundblaster's playback might give some positive results. I will try that later, if not heard from Tom.

I don't kno how to disable or activate the other sound card, maybe just plug it into the other card? i ono...

That should be done in your BIOS, usualy you can enter the BIOS by pressing DEL or F1 or something in the boot of your computer.


Now I've mixed around with two soundcards, doesn't seem like windows (running Windows 2000 Pro with Service Pack 3 innstalled) handled it very well. I tried to set Recording device to the onboard soundcard, but I didn't seem to get it to work.

It's all up to you now Tom, please come through for us! ;)

I have got a SB Live! to work under Win2K so it is possible.
When you press Talk does the microphones volume change in the Playback mixer?

still doesn't work for me i have xp

Well.. I am having some troubles now.. suddently some sound settings are changing, and the radio listerens can only hear a very scrambling version of the song im playing.. very weird as I dont change any settings.

Turn the VOLUME on the MICROPHONE UP. Looking at the screenshot, that seems to be your problem (aside from NOT CROPPING YOUR IMAGES)

If this don't work, I dunno what will...

After alot of testing I finnaly got the drivers innstalled. However, how do I now get my microphone to work at all?

Seriously... the mic does not work with the kx drivers? Uh... see if you can find a set of old SB Live! drivers on the web.

I just got some help from the kX forum, on how to get the microphone to work. HOWEVER (of course there is a "but") I can only get it to work when selected Microphone, not when selected Stereo Mixer.

Which brings me back to the problem i had with some OLD SB Live! drivers.. In order to get anything from the microphone I had to have it selected, and not Stereo Mixer..

And the problem then is of course, that everything I say will be broadcastet, wheter I push the "Talk" key or not.

So my question is really, are you sure it works with old drivers, as I didn't really get it to work with old drivers myself.. (maybe some other old drivers?)

Hi everyone:

If you use the mixer in Windows, you shouldn't have to press the TALK button in the SHOUTcast DSP at all. You should just be able to talk straight into the mic. If not, then I refer to my last post.

In other words - CHECK THE MICROPHONE VOLUME!!!

If it's that low in the snapshot you took above, then you need to MOVE THE INDICATOR UP.

The problem doesn't appear to be with the drivers. I'd be willing to bet it lies within the Volume Control settings itself.

But what do I know??? I'm just a fellow DJ/Radio Station Owner

Well, I would kind of like it if the listeners didn't have to listen to EVERYTHING going on in the "studio".

(and when you press the TALK button, the microphone volume slides up..)

Then what is the TALK button for?

Btw, I am currently testing an older driver I found over at Creative's website, I haven't had any problems yet, but the new one worked 5-10 hrs before starting to get scuzzy, so I guess it'll be some time before I can find out for sure..

Hi everyone:

If you're using one of those $110 cheapie mics that PC manufacturers throw in practically for free, then ya might try investing in a mic with an on/off switch. You can get one at Radio Shack (just be sure to seel the sales rep. you're getting it for your stereo or they won't sell it to ya) or a local music store (the type where you buy instruments and other sound equipment).

I got one and have NEVER regretted it. Sounds GREAT on the air too. :)

As for your question Tom, I'm really not sure why Nullsoft ever put that in there. Perhaps Sawg or KXRM or someone else from Nullsoft can answer that one? :)

It's there so you can have your settings just as he posted and then when you press talk it all magically works.
