Jay 11th June 2003 19:08

install the (SHOUTcast DNAS) Server

matt2kjones 11th June 2003 19:09

Have u downloaded both the winamp DSP and the shoutcast DNAS server?

firstly you download the shoutcast server, u edit the config, set the max listeners, port and password

you then download the dsp, connect to the dnas using your chosen port, password

wolla ur up and running

CrazyLady15 11th June 2003 19:12

woah wait..i have to download two things? i only downloaded one... n i have no idea which one i downloaded

Jay 11th June 2003 19:13

sounds like you only downloaded the plugin, go to the shoutcast download page again and click "be a server"

matt2kjones 11th June 2003 19:15

well if you have the dsp, which is the thing that opens in winamp, then goto shoutcast.com and click i wanna be a server and download the dnas server.

if you have only got the shoutcast server, goto shoutcast.com and click, i wanna be a dj and download the winamp dsp

CrazyLady15 11th June 2003 19:17

ooo so i make my own server!? OH OK i thought u just put the IP of ur internet access on there.. and the password ..well i still dunno where the password is supposed to be.. when i download to be a server will i get that ini file that im supposed to have here? cause i went and looked all through my comp for it.. couldnt find the thing...

Jay 11th June 2003 19:18

yes you will be able to set your password in the shoutcast server.

matt2kjones 11th June 2003 19:19

yea u edit the sc_Serv ini file when u get the server and place ur password in there

CrazyLady15 11th June 2003 19:25

how do i know what the server addy is

Jay 11th June 2003 19:40

if it's on your computer just put 127.0.0.1

if you want to know the ip everyone else will need to connect to go to www.radiotoolbox.com/whereami and this page will try to detect your real IP address.

CrazyLady15 11th June 2003 19:42

im getting an error on this saying someone else is using my port<06/11/03@10:16:34> [main] error opening source socket! FATAL ERROR! Some other process is using this port!

Jay 11th June 2003 19:46

do you have more then one shoutcast server open?

CrazyLady15 11th June 2003 19:47

no i sure dont

CrazyLady15 11th June 2003 19:55

if i were to change the port to my router port in my network, would it have the error?

Jay 11th June 2003 19:55

just to make sure try rebooting the machine and starting the server, if it still comes up with that error then something is running on port 8000 so try changing the PortBase configuration item in the ini file to something else like 8010

CrazyLady15 11th June 2003 19:59

ok lemme give that a try

CrazyLady15 11th June 2003 20:09

well i tryed it.. and this is what im getting

Tom 11th June 2003 20:09

Did you change the SrcIP by any chance?

[edit]Forget the stuff above, that problem is worked out.[/edit]

Now you need to connect the source (i.e. Winamp w/ SHOUTcast DSP).

Tom

CrazyLady15 11th June 2003 20:13

Tom 11th June 2003 20:16

Port: 8000
Password: to whatever you set in the config

Tom

CrazyLady15 11th June 2003 20:17

Did you put in the proper password?

CrazyLady15 11th June 2003 20:18

i dont know what password it wants i looked on the ini readme file but it aint in there

jagwac 11th June 2003 20:20

try putting this in the password...

changeme

if that works and you can connect, open up your sc_serv.ini and change the password.

CrazyLady15 11th June 2003 20:24

nope it didnt work

CrazyLady15 11th June 2003 20:25

<06/11/03@11:09:24> [source] invalid password from changeme 127.0.0.1

jagwac 11th June 2003 20:28

open up sc_serv.ini

; Password. While SHOUTcast never asks a listener for a password, a
; password is required to broadcast through the server, and to perform
; administration via the web interface to this server. This server should
; consist of only letters and numbers, and is the same server your broadcaster
; will need to enter in the SHOUTcast Source Plug-in for Winamp. THIS VALUE
; CANNOT BE BLANK.
Password=changeme <---Make sure that is the same as you are putting in the DNS

and

; PortBase. This is the IP port number your server will run on. The
; value, and the value + 1 must be available. If you get a fatal error when
; the DNAS is setting up a socket on startup, make sure nothing else on the
; machine is running on the same port (telnet localhost portnumber -- if you
; get connection refused then you're clear to use that port). Ports < 1024
; may require root privledges on *nix machines. The default port is 8000.
PortBase=8000 <---Make that the port you are broadcasting on

At the risk of sounding like an ass...search for the answer. This question has been asked so many times it's tiring to keep giving the same answer over and over.

CrazyLady15 11th June 2003 21:34

im gettin a firewall error on here.. is there any way i can bypass my internal firewall on RR(roadrunner)?

matt2kjones 11th June 2003 22:09

just unblock the ports that the dnas server uses on the firewall

by default the port is 8000 tcp

FesterHead 11th June 2003 22:10

See your other thread for fixing that error.
