Listeners stream die's after x seconds or minutes?!?

Hello..

I hope you can help.. I’m going nut's.. even worse, I’m considering using Windows Media Encoder!! I know!!

I’ve trawled through the forum but no luck.. so in a last ditch attempt.. I thought I’d try ask you guys..

Everything seems to stream from WinAmp fine.. however when I connect from another machine on my network.. I get anywhere between 30 to 200 seconds of music, then it dies!! When I reconnect I get exanct the same problem but it might be for a different length of time??

This is what my log looks like:

your listeing through windows media player???

thats not directly supported through shoutcast servers

have you tried listening through a more compatable player, such as winamp, real one etc

DJHotIce 12th June 2003 16:01

its indirectly supported :D

jagwac 12th June 2003 16:04

You can use Windows Media Player to listen to a SHOUTcast stream. Perosnally I dont know why you are using the Developers version to listen with though. *meh* to each his own I guess.

Try using Winamp and see if you get disconnected. Try going into the WMP prefs and playing with the settings there.

I've tried listening through WinAmp, Media Player, Real One.. I get the same problem on all players..

I used windows media player for convenience.. as I don't have WinAmp on the machine closest too me!?! But I have tried listening to the source, both on WinAmp 2 and 3.. it's just that my other machines are in different rooms.. and I had my laptop close to hand.. dunno why it's coming up as a developers version.. as it was downloaded from windows update a few weeks ago.. ooh well.. guess that M$ logic for ya!?!

anyway.. thanks for the speedy replies.
