5.1 Speaker Systems, what's the deal? (Cambridge 3500)
I'm at my wits end here, and it doesn't help that I've been battling insomnia for the last 5 days either... There isn't a general tech support forum so since I'm a Winamp 2.91 user I decided to post my problem here.
I have a 5.1 speaker system (in topic), and am a man with a simple want. For my music to put me in a surround soundlike atmosphere as I have them setup that way. To start off I was using Windows 98 and an Audigy (Yes I'm now seeing that that was a bad choice, but I don't have that dll on my system nor have I experienced the problems that are noted to come with that card.) and it was working fine. I was surrounded by music. Same setup, now using XP and I get sound from my front speakers, and RARELY get sound from the rears, if I do it's sparadic at best and more annoying than it is pleasing (Also happens with Video files). I've got two options for soundcards. The Audigy, or the onboard one on the Asus A7N8XDeluxe (yes when using the Audigy I did disable the onboard audio in the bios). Both of them give me the same headace. Fronts play, rears are weak. I've tried switching the speakers around to see if they were defective, and the rears sound the same as the fronts. Basically I'm asking anyone with the same setup how they have their speakers hooked up to give them 5.1 sound from their music. Thanks for listening, and please help me out, I know it sounds a little noobish, but the fact that it was working fine on a previous OS is bugging the hell out of me. |
Control Panel -> Sounds & Audio Devices -> Volume tab
Speaker settings -> Advanced: Under "Speaker Setup", select: 5.1 surround sound speakers For Winamp: TSGH -> Multiple Speaker Output |
[Edit: My apologies, problem solved]
Thanks alot though, the A3D plugin did it. |
